OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE INDUSTRY

Annual Security Convention  just held!

CEO OF AA LOCK & KEY SERVES AS
       EDUCATION COORDINATOR!

 October 21--25th, Sturbridge, Massachusetts

After much trepidation based on the current economic conditions, attendance at the Yankee Security Convention, Inc.,  was much greater than anticipated.  Three days of educational classes, sourced by Dave Vessels our CEO, were well attended with 5 of the 15 classes filled to capacity.  Attendance at the 2 day trade show was phenomenal--every trade booth was sold out and exhibitors were extremely pleased with the chance to display their products to over 1,000 visitors.

Attendees were from all  New Engand states, as well as New York and Pennsylvania.  Instructors hailed from as far away as Kentucky, Colorado and Florida.  This made for great opportunities of idea exchanges and exposure to current security trends.   AA Lock & Key was pleased to play a major role in setting the educational agenda for the locksmithing industry at the industry's annual convention!

The Yankee Security Convention,Inc.is a not-for-profit trade organization dedicated to the further learning and industry awareness of locksmith professionals in the Northeast Region of the country.  Dave serves on the Board of Directors and is the Education Coordinator

Security Tips and Trends

What is a Knox Box and do I need one?

If you are a commercial business owner or a tenant, you can avoid a lot of unnecessary damage to your locks and doors should emergency services be needed to gain access after hours by installing a "Knox" box.  Most Fire Departments offer some type of service like this.  "Knox" is the most popular brand.  A sturdy metal box is attached or built into the building in the area of the main entrance.  You put the keys or access credentials that open as many doors as possible in this box. This box can only be opened by a High Security Key that is secured in the Fire Apparatus.   Every time the key is accessed by fire personnel, an electronic log keeps an audit trail.  Should an alarm go off in your building, emergency personnel can open the door with the key(s) you provide and don't need to break your doors or locks.  This is especially handy should the alarm be false.

You should contact your local Fire Department to take advantage of this service if you don't already have it.  When you do have it, it is important to keep it updated whenever you have a security change such as changing your locks.

WHY SHOULD WE, (NOT THE BIG BOX STORES) CUT YOUR KEYS?

At AA Lock & Key, we have the capability to cut "factory" quality keys on our computerized machines (extra charges apply).  What does this mean to our customers?  Many times our customers will come to our office with a copy of a copy of a key.  As keys are duplicated from other than the original, the integrity of the key is lost.  The cuts are not to proper depths and may not work in the intended lock.  A factory quality key is cut from the exact computerized measurements on our high quality key code machines.
