Letting Go of Winning

Have you ever entered a drawing for a gift and found yourself saying at the same time "I never win anything"?  The words you speak will consistently lead you into the results you've stated. 

Two weeks ago, at the end of an ILoA workshop given to an Alternative Education Class, we held a drawing to give away the movie "The Secret" to all the attendees.  The students began yelling out "I will win",  I want it"  and "No, I'm going to win" etc.

One young adult put his ticket in the drawing and did not join in with the rest of the students who were yelling about wanting to win.  Instead he clearly said,  "It doesn't matter to me", and "I don't care if I win".  He had no urgent desire to win and therefore had no competitive resistance going on within himself.

He was totally surprised when he won the drawing.  After class he gave the DVD to his friend in the class who really wanted to win.  In the end, both of them felt good about the experience.

Understanding Fear

Q: What is Fear and how can I reduce it in my life?

A: Like all emotions, fear is simply an indicator of how close or far our current thoughts are from what our intuitive self is thinking about that same subject.

Because Fear is at the bottom of the Emotional Scale, thoughts that create Fear are the farthest away from the opinion that our intuitive, inner being is having on that subject.

There is never anything to actually be afraid of unless we've spent enough time thinking negative thoughts that we attract a negative manifestation.

This is pretty counter-intuitive for most people.  We've been taught that if we observe something generates fear in us, it's dangerous in some way and so the fear is justified.  We usually can spew forth tons of evidence to back this up:

"I had this bad feeling about him and then I find out he stole something from me.  I knew I was right!"

"I've been worried that, if I lose my job, I won't be able to survive and now it's happened!"

"I've been worried about my health for a long time and now I'm getting bunions."

The question to ask is, which came first, the Fear or the fearful manifestation?

The answer is always the same, thought always precedes manifestation

  • First there is the thought
  • Then there is the immediate emotional feedback, ie, Fear in this case 
  • Finally, if dwelt upon long enough, Law of Attraction brings a manifestation that matches the essence of the thought 


An important thing to note is that LoA manifests the vibrational essence of our thoughts, not necessarily the actual thought.  The more specific we are in our thinking of things either wanted or unwanted, the more likely we will manifest what we are thinking about.  The more general we are, however, the less specific the manifestation will tend to be.

This brings us to another point which is that LoA always delivers us an exact match to our predominant thoughts through the path of least resistance.  This is why it's sometimes difficult to look back and connect a given thought with the associated manifestation but there is always a connection!

Fortunately, we can always avoid unpleasant manifestations by paying attention to how a thought feels when we think it.  If the thought doesn't feel very good then it's important to change it before too long.

The more airtime a thought gets, the more likely it is to manifest.  Fearful thoughts manifest into things we really don't want, such as a headache, a poor grade on an exam, a speeding ticket and so on.  Dwell on them even longer and the manifestations get worse, such as financial loss, major illnesses, broken relationships and the like.

So, in the above examples, here's what's really going on:

"I had this bad feeling about him and then I find out he stole something from me." - The bad feeling was there long before this person ever showed up.  An ongoing general feeling of fear, maybe a fear of being stolen from, caused this person to appear.  Then, the fearful thought became a reality but by that time it was too late.

"I've been worried that, if I lose my job, I won't be able to survive and now it's happened!" - Again, this is a case of a specific, fearful thought pattern that manifested into a matching situation.  There are trillions of dollars on the planet but they can't come to us if we focus on the potential loss of those dollars instead of the attraction of them to us.

"I've been worried about my health for a long time and now I'm getting bunions." - This is a more general thought of worry surrounding health.  Law of Attraction simply took path of least resistance which, in this case, was through an inherited family tendency towards bunions.  Note that the bunions were caused by the negative thoughts, not the family genetics!

So, what to do differently?

First, simply recognize a fearful thought for what it really is: an indicator that you're thinking thoughts that are different than your intuitive, inner being is.  Trust that your inner being has a broader viewpoint than you do and so is worth paying attention to.

Next, find thoughts to soften the fear, knowing that more pleasant thoughts will cause more pleasant experiences.  Remind yourself that we are never victims unless we dwell on vulnerable thoughts that will manifest into a victim type experience.

Finally, know that you always have time to improve your thoughts on a subject.  There's nothing you can't recover from and manifestations tend to take a long time to appear anyway so relax.  Create a vision of feeling good most of the time and then simply find thoughts that make you feel that way as often as possible.

As FDR wisely said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself!"

Choose not to have fearful thoughts and you will never attract anything to be fearful about!  It's Law.
