Real Life Story

The Universe Delivered My Perfect Match

Finding myself suddenly single, I began exploring the on-line dating scene. Over 2 years of corresponding/dating many different men, I began to realize that none of them portrayed their "true selves" until I met them in person. In person, I quickly learned that none of them were the type I was looking for in my life.

I became tired of all the games online dating entailed and the tedious journey of trying to find someone suited for me. I finally decided I did not care if I ever found a compatible man to enjoy life with.   I have a great many friends, a good job, wonderful family and so many blessings for which to be thankful for.  I decided I actually was very happy with myself and was enjoying my life as a single woman.

In Jan. 2010, after letting go of the dating scene, I took a piece of paper and made a list of all the characteristics I really would like to find in a man for some future reference.  I also wrote down what a great relationship would look like, with all the kinds of experiences I'd like to have happen between 2 people who are committed to each other.  I found this quite fun and wrote a huge long list of every pleasurable thought that came to my mind.  I folded it up and put it in my wallet and forgot about it for the rest of the year of 2010.

In Dec. 2010 for some unknown (intuitive) reason I glanced at my on-line dating site and saw that a man had "winked" at me.  My first instinct was to totally ignore it.  Oddly enough (not used to hearing my intuitive self talk to me!) I couldn't get this "wink" off my mind.  Eventually I responded, we met and had that "first" date.

I am amazed and very happy to report that the Law of Attraction really works.  As a result of finally becoming happy within myself and loving my life fully, I attracted the man with the characteristics and even physical looks that I had written down and held in my wallet for a whole year!

I did not just get "some" of the things I wanted ~ when I actually dug the old dilapidated paper out of my wallet I had the pleasure of receiving ALL of the desires that I'd written on my list!

The Law of Attraction does work!  As soon as you let go and visualize what you DO want and focus your mind on what you DO want - and let go of the need to have it come quickly, the Universe makes it happen!

Attracting Self-Discipline

Q: How do I attract self-discipline?  CAE ~ Royal Oak, MI

A: The idea of "attracting" self-discipline is a bit of an oxymoron.

Self-discipline implies force and the effective use of the Law of Attraction is the antithesis of force.  It's a belief still held by many that change only comes through working harder and forcing ourselves to do things we're not inspired to do.

The flaw in that way of thinking is that, anytime we focus on the "how", ie, working harder, disciplining ourselves, goal setting, etc, we're also focusing on the lack of the thing we want.  It's a subtle but powerful effect that can cause a mixed signal to be emitted from us, inhibiting Law of Attraction from clearly bringing to us what we want.

Recall that figuring out "how" to attract or manifest something is not our job but rather is the job of the Universe.  When we move away from force and into allowing, the "how" is shown to us through inspiration.

So, what to do?

Start by making peace with where you are.  Try looking at yourself in the mirror and saying, "I am where I am and it's OK".  When you can do that and mean it then you're moving in the right direction.

Anytime you hear "should", "should have" or "could have" go through your mind then you can be sure that you're not OK with where you are!  Go back and find a way to allow yourself to be OK with your situation.

Here's an example:

"I should work out more.  I could be in much better shape."

You can feel the resistance in this statement.  Although it may be true that working out would make this person healthier, the self-judgment will cause avoidance because no one likes to succumb to a demand.  Particularly when it comes from ourselves!

In addition, regular focusing on the unwanted picture of being out of shape will actually attract circumstances and events that help this person stay out of shape.

The softened approach would be a series of statements something like this:

"I know others who are in much worse shape than I am and they're doing OK."

"Overall, my body is functioning pretty well right now."

"There are many ways to improved health."

"I know that the right path for me will appear when I'm ready for it."

"There's no rush in any of this."

"The most important step in improving my health is to improve my state of mind and I'm doing that right now."

By allowing ourselves to be OK with where we are, our resistance drops which allows our intuitive impulses to start flowing in.

Following an inspired thought to action, as opposed to forcing the action, is always a more natural, enjoyable and effective outcome.

Here are some possible outcomes from non-resisted thoughts of health:
  • You start craving healthier snacks.
  • An ad for a discounted health club near your house suddenly appears in your mailbox.
  • You feel a strong urge to get out of bed in the morning and take a walk.
  • A friend starts talking to you about a fun way to exercise together.
  • That greasy cheeseburger you sometimes have for lunch doesn't sound so appetizing anymore.

Then, when the inspired thought comes, act on it right away.  You will always be lead to a desirable outcome.

Remember that life is supposed to be fun, effortless, abundant and filled with joy.  When it isn't, it's often because we're trying too hard and not paying attention to how we feel in the moment.

Let go of the motivation and tune into the inspiration and you'll have it made!
