Real Life Story

Turning Myself Around to Avoid Disaster

Two weeks ago we were having warnings about a blizzard approaching us, with a prediction of 10-12 inches over night.  Suddenly at 4:45PM I realized I had just a few other items I wanted to stock up on from the grocery store in case we got snowed in, but I also had a commitment to a telephone conference call starting in 15 minutes (at 5PM).

I had been having a great day up until then, so I decided I would just run one mile up the road, to the grocery store and pick up the few items I needed and decided I could probably return in time for the conference call.

There were tons of people also stocking up before the storm.  However, as I expected, all went really well. I got a front row parking place.  I found everything I wanted in record time, and I found an exceptionally quick check out lane.  I was very happy when I looked at my watch and saw it was only 5PM and I would only be a few minutes late for my telephone call.

Half way home I realized I had left my purse in the shopping cart at the store!  Fear quickly set in.  I panicked for a moment and felt a huge knot in my stomach when I thought of all the important things in my purse that I did not want to lose or have to replace!  Wow, I felt horrible!  I quickly turned around and headed back to the store.

I took 3 deep breaths as I drove the painfully slow 30 miles per hour speed limit and began to tell myself that there are many nice people in the world.  Maybe one of them would find my purse and turn it in to the store, or maybe (since it'd only been 5 minutes) the purse would still be in the shopping cart right where I left it.

I also reminded myself that I had had this exact thing happen at a huge grocery store parking lot, (much bigger than this parking lot) 5 years previous and some kind person turned it in to the service desk then, so why not this time too! As I eased myself up the Emotional Scale my fear began to lessen.

When I arrived back in the parking lot I did not see my purse in any of the carts in the area.  I went inside to the service desk and was overjoyed to find that a young girl and her Dad had found the purse and turned it in!  I'm thankful I chose to turn my thoughts around.

The Law of Attraction works every time.  My choice of new good feeling thoughts and intentions paid off!

Do Affirmations Really Work?

Q: I've heard about positive thinking and doing affirmations to manifest things but does this really work?

A: Like everything else with Law of Attraction, it depends!

Affirmations are positive statements that you repeatedly either read to yourself or say out loud for the purpose of manifesting something that you want.

They can involve anything that you want to be, do or have and are always stated in a positive way, such as, "I see myself driving a beautiful new luxury car".

The tricky thing about affirmations is that they can work against you if you're not in the right state of mind.

The closer you are to the top of the Emotional Scale, the more an affirmation is going to already be in alignment with your desires and the better chance it has of manifesting into reality.

Affirmations that you make when you're fairly low on the Emotional Scale, however, simply shine a light on the fact that you don't yet have the thing that you want.

So, the key is, when you think you're in a good frame of mind, do your affirmations but pay close attention how you feel as you do them.  Any affirmation that doesn't feel good when you do it should be skipped for now.

When you're in a down frame of mind, avoid your affirmations altogether and put your energy into more general things that will float you back up the Emotional Scale.  Then resume your affirmations if you like.

In all cases, let your feelings guide you toward your manifestations!
