Music Max Student Concert!

One of the funnest events we have is our Student Concerts! About every 2 month or so we have these and the place is packed! No matter what instrument or style you are into we can teach it and the concert always shows off the talents of our Students and Instructors. It's a great opportunity for Music Max students to perform. We invite you to drop by and support the students for this event.There is a big Latin Festival below and in September we will Have Travis Larson back for a guitar clinic and he's bringing Larry Mitchell ( Grammy winning guitarist) and Jennifer Young on bass. In October we will have Travis Larson Band playing a concert here with the Mike Keneally (Click here for bio ) band and the Bryan Beller Group ( Click here for bio ) all in one night! Jaci Voelz is ready to take students who can play for the East Side Community Jazz Band. Sept 12th. is the first rehearsal. She is looking for all players from Brass,Woodwinds, Bass, Guitar, Drums, and Piano. Any one from 4th grade thru Jr. High who can read a bit and knows some basic scales. call Jaci 243-5481

 String Muting.

 Greetings, I hope you all have had a great summer.Id like to share some thoughts with you on the process of controlling unwanted string noise.The technique is referred to as muting and can be achieved with the right or left hand by touching your fingers or the heel of your palm to the string.Usually one hand or the other is in a better position to deal with muting although sometimes i use both to insure a clean sound when i play.If you are right handed then your left hand will be forming the chord and your left hand pinky will be free to silence the strings at any time.If your left hand is too busy to mute then you can always use your right hand by setting the heel of your palm down onto the strings.I hope this gives you some ideas on muting.see you next time MARVIN ALLEN
