Chianti Classico DOCG From the most carefully hand selected Sangiovese in San Michele a Torri's "Tenuta la Gabbiola" vineyard, this Riserva is packed with depth and character. Densely planted and farmed organically, these Sangiovese vines yield extremely healthy and concentrated fruit. 2006 marked a fantastic vintage in Chianti Classico because the season fostered a late harvest and thorough, balanced ripening. Fermented at controlled temperatures, this Riserva maintains all the delicate floral nuances that soar above the rich baritone low notes of fruits-of-the-forest, toast and spice. The palate is rich and flavorsome with pomegranates and drying plums combining with almonds and roses. Maturing 20 months in the gentle qualities of tightly grained Slavonian oak casks, the structure weaves citrussy acids with ample tannins for a good rest in the cellar should you lay it down for a time. Although this will probably reach its peak between 2012 and 2020, this Riserva has undergone malolactic fermentation softening all its edges, bringing about a polished texture and making this a wholly enjoyable Chianti Classico upon release. Tenuta la Gabbiola 2006 Riserva Chiani Classico was awarded five out of five stars from Decanter, England's greatest wine publication many believe the most respectable in the world. |
