From coveted ungrafted prephylloxera vines planted on the northeastern banks of the Duero River, this is old world Spain in a glass; cedarberry and mellow strawberry aromas greet the nose. A lifted coffee come chicory note lends a dark line to set off the bright, ripe fruit sought from Tinta de Toro (read Tempranillo). A delicious mouthful of berry fruits is roundded out by faint mace, clove, and cinnamon. More of that savory roast coffee quality comes through on the lasting finish that leaves a new appreciation for this land where ungrafted Tempranillo continues to foster great wines like these for which they were famous in Medeival times.
