February was the month for giving, at least at my studio. I got a call from Partners Creative asking if I could photograph shirts for a poster for the " Make A Wish Foundation's'" 10th Anniversary poster as a donation....I said yes, of course. The organization raises money to send children with cancer to an outdoor ranch for a week or so...
Being a big fan of the Missoula Symphony Orchestra, I said "yes" to photographing 1/3 of the orchestra for a fund raising brochure, for my donation I got to work with the talented Marlene Hutchins who has designed an ad campaign for my business to appear in the MSO programs for the next two years.. a win-win proposition. So support the arts and your local photographer.
The Pinup who I photographed for the KPAX TV article is getting married and after our session has asked if I could photographer her wedding.
A few of you took advantage of the Senior Portrait Special and booked their kids..good move and a good deal.
I got a call from a Design firm in Chicago , The Hennessy Group, assigning a people shoot in Kalispell Montana for the Walgreens World magazine. It felt like old times, real budget paid for all the expenses, happy with the results..I hope it is the beginning of more to come.
The following week came a call from an award winning Architectural Firm in Denver interested in hiring me to shoot a "building" in Missoula, to early to tell if I got the job as of this writing but I will keep you posted..they said early April.
My Airstream client used my images for an Ad in the Big Sky Journal and promises to have another airstream to shoot by the end of March. He also said he would sponsor a month in the Pinup Calender Project..mmm airstreams and pinups..what a perfect combo...
Speaking of the Pinup Calender project, I have joined forces with Tawnie Sabine, lawyer, Arbonne seller and former Pinup client to create a 2012 Montana Pinup Calander. We are looking for sponsors to buy a month so if you are interested give us a call.
Drobo...no it is not a Star War creature that ended up on the cutting floor. Drobo is a Digital back up system that literally backs up itself. Now my clients and I can rest at night not worrying about lost data. I am starting with 6 TB
( terabytes of memory) to immediately back up over 60, 000 images and film clips. A big investment, but only the best for my clients.
As I submit more images to my new stock agency age foto stock, this will allow me to speed up the transfer of files ( for all you techies I will be using either the 800 fire wire or the Esata connections) speeding up my digital workflow allowing me more time to drink tea.
You can read all about my digital workflow in my next book...which is due to the publishers in July, Yikes..I better get movin'
