Gallery News:
Our last exhibit,
"Early Detection....Priceless,"
was a success.  We had about 200 people show up throughout the night. We even had TV coverage on KPAX which aired on the 10 o'clock news.

This December the gallery will exhibit new work by photographer, writer and filmmaker Kevin Connolly. Mr Connolly's amazing life accomplishments, at the young age of 24, is an inspiration and testament to all those who say " why not?"
We are fortunate to have Kevin join us this First Friday to sign his new book book,  " Double Take, A Memoir" on  December 4th. If you miss him  you can watch him on "The Today Show" on Dec.22nd or wait till the movie comes out (his book is being optioned for a movie), or you can pick up OUTSIDE magazine and read about Kevin and the XGAmes. It is better to see him in person for he is a joy and will warm your heart this holiday season.

His book and photographs will be for sale. Checks and cash accepted, no credit cards.

Join us First Friday, December 4th between 5:30 and
8: 00 pm. Food and wine will be provided by VSA of Montana and Alayne Donalson (thanks).

November was a month of print fulfillment, organizing and family portraits. November and December historically have been "wrapping up months" and last minute assignments.
I will be shooting a catalog in December for Everest Designs, which I am happy will keep me busy till the end of the year.

.I am also working on my
MicroStock side of the business which is going be, in my modest opinion, VERY EXCITING.

In the meantime enjoy your holidays and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Steven Begleiter
Dear Readers,
This Year Ends the 2009 calender with "comfort & joy" at Begleiter.com Studio.

I look forward to December  with all the hoopla and celebrations (not to mention my birthday). After all, we all deserve a good celebration.
(and time off for good behavior).

We start off the big holiday seaon by offering 20% off on all sessions till December 14th.

On Dec. 4th  we bring back writer/photographer
Kevin Connolly to read and sign his recently published  book " DoubleTake" and  an exhibition of his photography. Thanks to VSA of Montana for sponsoring this event.

What would December be without a Santa Sitting, with a sweet twist?
I am joining forces with "Indulge" BakeryOrgnic Sprouts   and Sunflower Cookies, to photograph a Victorian Santa and your child on December 5th and 20th from 1 to 5.
As a special gift to all of you a  5" x 7" will only cost
$20 in a Santa Folder, and an e-mail version will be sent to you to share with all of your relatives who are not lucky enough to live in Missoula.

This special holiday event will be at Indulge Bakery not my studio. This event would even bring a smile to Scrooge.

I want to wish all of you a very merry and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Sincerely, Steven

December Photo Tips:

1) Organize your photos: Digital has made it easier to organize your photos with keyword and Metadata and a good software program either through flicker or Adobe Lightroom, see my article in the current issue of  PhotoTechniques for more in depth strategies. I mention this first because I got a call in November from Newsweek for an image I had taken over 24 years ago, pre-digital. To my dismay I could not find the image..as the photo editor said sort of a "needle in the haystack" Bottom line organize your photos from day one, you never know.

2) Clean your print cartridges !

If you have a photo printer don't forget to clean your ink cartridges. Most printers have a self cleaning system but You have to activate it. With all the printing you might be doing this holiday season you ink cartridges can get clogged up. It is a good idea to clean them on a monthly basis.

3) Back up your digital work!!! There are many strategies but the easiest way is to burn your work on DVD and label it; subject and date. Then store it in a cool, dark safe place, not in the same location as your computer in case of fire, theft or flood. Or get an external hard drive like the DROBO or even better subscribe to an off site service that will hold your work for safe measure. Whether you are a MAC user or PC hard drives do crash and burn, play it safe.
