Greetings!

You are invited to join The Freedom Association's new Councillors' Forum.  Don't worry, it won't cost you anything, or commit you to anything!  It's simply an opportunity for you to share your news and views with like-minded councillors around the country.

We're not planning to lecture you on what you should or shouldn't be doing; merely to offer you a means of spreading some of your ideas and achievements beyond your own locality.  As well as highlighting freedom issues of relevance to local government, we will warn of threats to individual freedom from the Government, the European Union and from local councils themselves.
  • If you have any news and views you'd like to share, please make use of our Councillors' Forum blog.  If you'd like the world to know about good things you're doing as a councillor, but don't have time to run your own blog, feel free to use the Councillors' Forum blog as a quick and easy way to get your message across.
  • In addition to the blog, we'll be holding a major Councillors' Forum meeting in The Freedom Zone - the biggest and best event on the Conservative Party Conference Fringe.  If you'd like to be a member of the platform panel at this meeting, please e-mail me ASAP.
  • Please join our Facebook group, so you can keep up to date with our latest news.  Like everything to do with the Councillors' Forum, it's strictly cross-party and doesn't commit you to any line - as long as you have a desire to defend and extend individual freedom.
  • We'll feature articles and news from Councillors in FREEDOM TODAY, the Freedom Association magazine.
  • TOP TIP: As well as being a member of Hammersmith & Fulham Borough Council, Councillor Harry Phibbs runs the excellent and influential Conservative Home local government section.  Harry, who has a fine record of promoting individual freedom, is keen to receive articles and news from Councillors.  Please e-mail Harry (harry.phibbs@gmail.com) with your articles and news stories.
Please pass this message on to any other Councillors you know who might be interested in TFA's Councillors' Forum.

Kind regards,

Simon Richards

Councillor Rebecca HardingRebecca Harding (left) was just one of a number of stunning successes for Freedom Association Members in the local council elections on 4 June.  Rebecca jumped from third to first place at her first attempt, defeating the Liberal Democrat Group Leader on Northamptonshire County Council in the process.

Peter Davies achieved a sensational victory as the new directly elected Mayor of Doncaster.  Alan Griffiths, Leader of Christchurch Borough Council, won a seat on Dorset County Council and Ron Forrest retained his seat on Somerset County Council.
The Freedom Association was founded in 1975 by Lord De L'Isle VC KG and Ross and Norris McWhirter CBE.  It is dedicated to defending individual freedom and national sovereignty.  A multi-issue pressure group, it is one of the most dynamic and active organisations on the political scene, with a growing youth and student wing.
