HAPPY SUMMER! As usual, June's a busy month: end of school, graduation, Father's Day, and weddings.
Let Kilohana Grill help ease your stress! I have pre-wrapped a few teacher's gifts: Kauai Kookies, Hawaiian Island Teas and more. For graduation, informal weddings and rehearsal parties - let us help with the cooking. Place your party tray orders early, our calendar is getting full.
Surprise some lucky Dad with a gift certificate or some of our Pulehu Salt Seasonings for the grill master in the house. We've had some crazy weather lately but looks like summer is finally here in the Bay Area. Enjoy the time with your kids - they grow up way too fast. Hope you are all well - Malama Pono - Take care,
Pam and Myron Kashima and all of the staff at Kilohana Grill

DAYS OF MY YOUTH - MYRON KASHIMA
Barbecue Time! Let's Eat!
The plantation workers used to take old, empty 55 gallon drums and make barbecue grills. Almost all the families had them. Back then, they didn't think about the fact that the drums were once filled with DDT which was used to as a pesticide for the sugar crops.
Our family was lucky, dad knew how to weld and he fabricated ours out of stainless steel. It was awesome compared to the other families grills made from the DDT drums.
Fast forward 50+ years and here I am, grilling for our customers. We have a small 3' charbroiler that is going all day long. We're often amazed at how much food we provide out of our little restaurant.
Have fun grilling over the summer - grab some of our Pulehu Salt Seasoning to add some " Kilohana" to your next barbecue!
Aloha, Myron

PLACE OF INTEREST: SALT PONDS - KAUAI
You may be able to catch a glimpse of days gone
by at the ancient Hawaiian salt ponds near Hanapepe. The art of
salt-making in earthen pans is still practiced here by families
descending from ancient saltmakers, and is a reminder of the rich
Hawaiian culture of the island. Enter the salt-making area only if
permission is granted by saltmakers. http://www.hawaiipaakai.com/
Kilohana Grill has our own natural Salt Seasonings for you to enjoy. We have the Original Flavor and Spicy flavor available. We use Hawaiian Sea Salts in our blend of spices.

Kilohana Trivia
Ono-licious Burgers! We started serving sandwiches and burgers about a year ago and our customers like having a choice between a plate lunch with rice or having a sandwich.
We're const antly looking to improve the value in our products and have recently switched to using 100% Premium Black Angus Beef burger patties. It's still 1/3 of a pound serving. Try the Hawaiian favorite - Loco Moco, it's two scoops of rice topped with a hamburger patty that's topped with two fried eggs and the whole thing is SMOTHERED in brown gravy - YUM! It's a surfer's favorite after a long day of being in the water.
We serve our delicious Island Burger (recipe furnished in this issue), Cheeseburgers, regular burgers, Loco Moco's and Hamburger Steak with mushrooms and onions.
We estimate we use over 2,500 burger patties throughout the year.
