Aloha Everyone!

The warm summer days are here ~ time for family barbecues and picnics.  If you don't want to cook, we're here to help.  If you're the Grill King (or Queen), come in and get our Kilohana Salt Seasonings. It's great on burgers, steaks, fish, vegetables, you name it.

Do you like our teriyaki glaze? Pick up a bottle (or two) and add it to your own home cooked meals. We just received our latest shipment of bottled glaze and dipping sauce - we've got a new look and a new price, same great taste!

Malama Pono - Take care,

DAYS OF MY YOUTH - MYRON KASHIMA

Japanese Furo - The Japanese style of bathing was to share the water from a large tub.  To keep the water clean, you wash and rinse the soap off outside of the tub. The water was heated by fire. Many of the  plantation houses owned by the Japanese workers didn't have an inside bathroom. We had a separate bathhouse which contained a large wooden bathtub.

My summers were spent chopping firewood for the family furo.
My dad would cut one tree early in the year and let it dry so by the time summer came, it was my job to cut this HUGE tree into smaller firewood.  It was also my job to start the fire for the furo before my dad came home from work at 3:30.  On the days I was late, and I could see the smoke going, I knew my dad was already home and boy, was I in trouble!

Mahalo to these world renowned musicians from Hawaii who were in town for a performance last month with the Halau Makana Lani.  They came into the restaurant for some "local food" and were so nice to take a picture with us and sign a few autographs.  They put on a fabulous performance and we hope they return the next time they're in town.
I hope you enjoyed our newsletter.  I welcome your feedback and you can unsubscribe at anytime.  Until next month.....

A hui hou - until we meet again

Aloha,
