Chamber Endorses Earthquake Insurance Bill
Senator Diane Feinstein is the principal sponsor of a bill that would create a cooperative reinsurance fund to spread the risk in insurance loses. The Chamber board of directors took the infrequent step of endorsing this federal legislative proposal.

Restore Grand Opening
Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County invites you to the opening of ReStore, a home-improvement re-sale store open to the public, and encourages homeowners who are starting home remodeling projects to recycle their reusable home building materials by donating reusable materials. ReStore will celebrate a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting, officiated by Santa Cruz Vice-Mayor Hilary Bryant, on Saturday, August 18th from 9 am to 1 pm.

CASA honors community members' efforts for foster children Court Appointed Special Advocates annually honors an outstanding organization, educator, and individual in Santa Cruz County whose special efforts help support children in the county's foster care system. This year CASA will honor educator Wendy Bailey, web designer Cathy Mayer, and Cyclists for Cultural Exchange as the recipients of its 7th annual Community Awards. The Board of Directors will honor them at a reception for them and their families at CASA's Mary and Richard Solari House in Watsonville on August 13. Read more»
