The holidays are over! The auditor has come and gone without any fuss. Business is quiet as the days slowly get longer. It's a great time to plan and strategize for 2012. It's also a great time to reflect on the past year, and how unique our industry can be.
*Where else does a customer call from the nursing home, state their first name only and say " I'll have my regular delivery" and promptly hang up?
*Where else does an ex con drop off a beautiful poinsettia at Christmas time and say " I thought you guys could use this"?
*Where else does "how are you today?" garner a response from a customer, that includes ALL the details of a recent vasectomy?
*Where else do you have a customer say " Thanks for carrying that out for me. I just had my eyes tested and can't see a thing" as they get in their car and drive away.
*Where else can you help a customer determine which flavor of Arbor Mist pairs best with hot dish?
*Where else could you work, and, as you are volunteering at the grade school, have a second grader say to you " Oh! I bet you know my Mommy, she LOVES wine!"
*Where else do customers feel so comfortable, they come in to shop in a bra and pajama bottoms?
* Where else would a customer DRIVE to the police station and insist that they check on the manager because the front door was locked, but her car was in the parking lot?
We are unique, in that we have the challenge of managing our business, the benefits of the fraternity of the MMBA and the customers that keep it all fun!
I look forward to seeing everyone at Boot Camp.
Happy New Year!
