2011 is Right Aound the Corner.....
While this year is not quite over you may want to start doing some planning for the first half next year.
Dates to remember:
MMBA / MLBA Legislative Day Jan 31st
This is always an important day for you to sit down 1 on 1 with your legislators to express your positions on important decisions they are going to make on your behalf. Have a voice!
Super Bowl Feb 6th
Can be a big beer week leading up to the big game.
MMBA Boot Camp Feb 21st -23rd
This event continues to evolve, grow and get better. The key we have found is the break out sessions where we get cities with similar situations sitting down in small groups discussing key topics.
Easter April 24th
Always seems to be a big wine holiday.
MMBA Scholarships due May 1st
If you work for a municipal liquor store and have a child graduating in 2011 as I do, they may be eligible for a scholarship from the MMBA. Look here for details. http://www.municipalbev.com/images/2011_Scholarship.pdf
Fishing opener May 14th
I have always thought of fishing opener as the summer beer opener. It seems to launch the busy summer season.
MMBA Conference May 22nd - 24th
Our conference always held in the spring has proved to be very educational. In the past we have learned everything from details on prohibition and Canadian whiskeys to mixology classes and details about everything you ever wanted to know about wine.
This year will prove to be even better as we talk about increasing profit margins, some fun beer classes and online wine training, as well as many other things. The vendor contact is very important as well. And remember during the annual meeting you have a voice on who is elected directors to represent you on the board.
Memorial Day May 30th
It's official we move into the beginning of the summer season.
Monday July 4th
Remember that the 4th falls on a Monday.
Local celebrations
Try to get involved and do what you can during these community celebrations.
I hope this helps you to get a handle on what's coming up, and of course there are always things like Valentines day and St Pats day that are big in some places. Whatever the date try to plan accordingly.
Have a great holiday selling season!
