Welcome to the IC3 Beacon Community and Meaningful Use bi-monthly newsletter. You are a valued participant in the HealthInsight Regional Extension Center (REC) and Beacon programs. Patient Centered Care in Action Learning and Action Networks Kick-Off Event
HealthInsight and the IC3 Beacon Community are pleased to announce the launch of Learning and Action Networks in Utah, which will focus on:
- Improving cardiac health
- Promoting the use of health information technology
- Improving transitions of care between facilities, agencies, and patients' homes.
We invite you and your colleagues to this landmark event in Salt Lake City where we will jump-start our community collaboration to promote the best in patient-centered care.

Diet and Prevention Strategies: Kidney Insufficiency with Diabetes
Join the Utah Diabetes Prevention and Control Program on
Wednesday, April 18th, for the next installment of their monthly continuing diabetes education series.

There is no cost to participate.
Presentation objectives:
- Learn how to better help our diabetic patients prevent kidney failure.
- Write and teach correct diet therapy in each of the 5 stages of kidney disease.

Patient-Centered Materials and Tools Available Now
To help support efforts in improving the quality of health care in local communities across the nation, the Federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has recently released free patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) materials. The PCOR materials are now available to help you review treatment options together with your patients.

Stage 2 Meaningful Use Proposed Rule Webinar
Recently, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced the proposed rule for Stage 2 Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs. Since then, there's been a lot of buzz and plenty of questions surrounding the proposed rule. Rest assured your HealthInsight Regional Extension Center team is on top of this hot topic and is hard at work making sure your transition from Stage 1 to Stage 2 is seamless.
We know you do not have time to read the over 455-page document, so we are developing materials to help you understand the proposed changes. In addition, we are sponsoring this live webinar to discuss which changes affect you and collect your comments to send to CMS during the 60-day comment period.
