All Saints' Day

All Saints' DayOn Sunday morning, October 30, 2011, we will observe All Saint's Day at each of our three worship services, the 8:45 AM and 11:15 AM Sanctuary and the 11:15 AM Anchor. In the Sanctuary, special floral bouquets will be arranged and presented to family members during the service in remembrance of their loved ones. Listed are known church members who have died in the past 12 months:

James G. Costner

Nuell Beasley Harn

 Lovick "Hank" Pierce Holloway

Helen Lee Johnson

Gwen H. Jones

Eva Blackburn Newton

Audrey Alexander Shinkle

Kathryn Amerson Tanner

Elizabeth Davis Usher

Dan M. Vaden, Jr.

William B. Wilson

If you have a loved one who has died in the past 12 months that you would like to remember, you are welcome to bring a long-stemmed flower to the church with you. At a special time, you will be given the opportunity to place it with the other flowers. If you worship in the Anchor, we will use candles in lieu of flowers to celebrate the saints.

Pastor Appreciation Month

Pastor Appreciation MonthOctober is National Pastor Appreciation Month. You can show your appreciation to our ministers in a variety of ways. Send them a note, bake them a cake or drop off a gift card to their favorite restaurant, so they can know how special they are to us.  Don't let this month go by without telling our ministers how much they mean to you!

Music Ministries

The Chancel Choir has begun preparations for a special Christmas musical in morning worship services on December 11th. The Christmas Song will take place in our Fellowship Hall, fully staged with lighting effects and visual media, accompanied by orchestra. Arts from the Island will sponsor an additional performance and lunch on Saturday, December 10th, as an outreach to groups served by area missions and assisted living facilities. We invite ALL in our congregation to join the Chancel Choir in preparing and presenting this inspiring work.  Wednesday rehearsals continue through November, beginning at 7:00PM with the Advent music, then practicing weekly anthems from 8:00 to 9:00PM. Contact Kevin or Nancy Vogelsang at 912-355-8527 for more information.

Anchor LogoOur children's and youth choirs will be sharing their music in our non-traditional worship service, The Anchor, during the month of November. Kids of the Kingdom choirs (grades 1-5) will sing on November 6th, and the H.O.P.E. Youth Choir will sing on November 13th. We appreciate the extra time and effort given by these young people and their families, as well as our committed choir leaders, to bring special music into all our varied services of worship.

 Ladies' Chorus

Ladies' Chorus begins rehearsals on Tuesday, Nov. 1st from 5:30-7:00PM to prepare for singing in worship on Dec. 4th. This is a great way for all the ladies' of the church to enjoy inspiring music and fellowship. All women of the church are invited! For more information, contact Terri Smiley at 912-352-7229 or [email protected].

Missions Outreach

Grow with MissionsThanksgiving will soon be here; however we have much to be thankful for in October! We started the month with the 5th Annual Ashlee Kraft Memorial Golf Tournament. Thank you to everyone who played a round of golf or sponsored a hole or cart to raise money for youth missions. I would like to offer special word of thanks to Paul Childers, Chris Trice, Joe Brettschneider and Trey Smith for their leadership.
