Dear , Prayer Harvest Sunday October 3, 2010 For the lastcouple of months we have been praying for God's provision for our Church. In response to the financial challenges of meeting our agreed upon ministry vision for 2010, we have sought to be faithful to Jesus' instruction in Matthew 7:7. There he states, "Ask and it shall be given to you." We have prayed individually and corporately for the Lord to supply every need we have as a congregation. God has blessed us. This Sunday, we will follow Jesus second principal of Kingdom economics found in Luke 6:38 where he said, "Give and it shall be given to you." In response to this principal, we are asking that every member of Isle of Hope UMC prayerfully consider sharing a special offering, a gift, above and beyond your regular tithe. I believe that together we will see a great harvest of blessings as we respond in faith to this opportunity to Excel in Generosity! Mike Excel! in Generosity 2 Corinthians 8:7 But just as you excel in everything...excel also in this grace of giving." Isle of Hope United Methodist Church Stewardship Focus October 3 - 24, 2010 |

Arts FROM the Island Sowing New Seed At this week's Church Council meeting we cast a new vision for outreach through music and arts ministries. Arts on the Island has for years offered programs and ministries to attract nonmembers into our buildings. As we live into our new mission statement - Love, Grow, Serve, Share - we desire more faithfully to carry out the missional aspects of our identity. In this spirit, Arts from the Island will be the new banner under which we follow God's call to physically reach into the community through music and other arts. We invite and encourage every church member, especially those interested in music and other arts, to attend an Arts Outreach Prayer Meeting this Sunday, October 3, at 7:00pm in our Sanctuary. Please prepare by praying personally in these specific areas: -Prayers of thanksgiving for the ways God has used music and arts ministries to build his Kingdom through the years at Isle of Hope UMC. -Prayers of supplication, asking God to speak a new word that would lead us into a more faithful vision of serving others through music and other arts. -Prayers of submission, offering yourself and your individual talents to God, asking him to use your unique gifts to serve others in Christ's name. Education Events
I've just returned from Nashville, TN and the General Commission on the Status & Role of Women. Roy Blackwood our conference lay leader and I were representatives of the southeast. The United Methodist Church is doing good & important work around inclusion issues and as we move toward the 2012 General Conference we should all be prayerful and intentional about inviting everyone to "The Table". It was a great privilege to share conversation & hear the dreams with our "world" church as some of the commission members come from Africa, Estonia, & the Philippines. We are truly blessed to be a connectional church and share the joys as well as the challenges of our sister churches. Thank you for this privilege. KFC WOW! Music Ministries
The Men's Chorus will begin another series of rehearsals next Wednesday, October 6, at 8PM. Subsequent rehearsals will be on Sundays at 7PM. We plan to sing in worship on October 31, All Saints Sunday. This is a great way to enjoy the inspiring music and great fellowship of a choir with only a short-term commitment. ALL men are welcome and encouraged to join us!
