Dear , Transitions Transition is a familiar word to United Methodist pastors and their families. Cindy and I have used the word, and experienced its meaning, often over the last 32 years of ministry. Although transitions can be challenging they have always proven to be an enormous blessing in our lives. Each one has brought new opportunities for personal growth, the deepening of our faith and confidence in God and the development of what we believe to be wonderful, life-long relationships. Our transition to Isle of Hope has already proven to be a blessing in all those ways and many more. You have made us feel "at home" from the beginning. Your kindness and generosity have truly touched our hearts. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Bill Daniel and the SPR Committee; to all of you who sent us cards and letters of encouragement before we moved; to those who prepared meals for our arrival; to Pat Royal and others for your help with the parsonages; to all the wonderful staff of this Church for your patience and help; to everyone who has prayed for us and the Church during this most recent transition. I am also very thankful to Dick and Frank for their kind and helpful assistance as we all worked through the transition. Their long and fruitful ministry at this great Church speaks for itself. Jim and I are humbled by the opportunity to follow these two faithful servants of Christ. We know that it will take time for you as a congregation to fully make the adjustment to new pastoral leadership, but please know that we are here to love and serve. If you need us for any reason, please let us know. I want you all to know how excited I am to work with Pastor Jim Morrow. He is a gifted man of God. Jim, Amanda, Jackson and Dean Thomas will be a great addition to the Isle of Hope family. Beloved friends, I look forward with great joy to our life and ministry together. I am praying and believing that God's great vision for this Church's future will be realized in and through our dreams and work together. My greatest desire is to Love, Grow, Serve and Share in mission with you all. With Great Expectation, Mike

Audio Seminar Isle of Hope United Methodist Church will be hosting an Audio Seminar and Media Seminar on June 26, 2010 from 8 AM to 6 PM (meals are provided). Those who attend this seminar will receive the highest level of professional training on operating sound and media systems. We have invited Advantage Unlimited AudioSeminar from Jacksonville, FL to our church to provide two separate seminars: A HANDS ON Audio seminar and a MediaSeminar. AudioSeminar has trained over 25,000 church volunteers and they are the leader in church audio training. For more information about the seminar or to sign-up, go to their website at www.AudioSeminar.com. This training will teach individuals who attend general knowledge of a sound board that is useful for both the sanctuary and the fellowship hall. Adult Summer Sunday School Jammin July Presents "Becoming A Good Samaritan" Love your neighbor, change the world... Matthew 25:35-36 All adults are invited to join together in a big & small group experience as we explore John Ortberg's "Becoming a Good Samaritan". John Ortberg is the author of other popular studies such as "If You Want to Walk On Water You've Got To Get Out Of The Boat" and "It All Goes Back In The Box." As is our tradition, each Sunday in July all adults join together in the Social Hall for coffee and refreshments at 10:00AM. We'll study together and have the opportunity to break into small groups facilitated by Rev. Ricker, Rev. Morrow, Julie Vann, Jeremy Akin and others! Session Themes Include: July 4th Becoming a Good Samaritan July 11th Caring For The Sick July 18th Seeking Justice & Reconciliation July 25th Honoring the Poor & Forsaken Does "Our" Gospel have a hole in it? God doesn't require us to be superstars. God simply call us to be faithful to the things God has given us to do - praying, loving, serving, giving, forgiving, healing and caring - doing "small things" as Mother Teresa once said "with great love." This is the whole of the gospel! UNITED MEN'S BREAKFAST Tuesday, June 29 at 7:00 AM Our speaker will be our new senior pastor, Mike Ricker. All men are invited. Bring a friend! SPR Presents "Supper in the Summer" A Welcome to Isle of Hope Dinner! Missions & Outreach
Mexico Mission Trip We will be sending a mission team to Tapachula, Mexico, August 3-11th to serve with Steve and Hope Shearouse at the Mission on the Move Boy's and Girl's Homes. We will be a relief team for the house parents in the new Boy's Home. The team will do all of the cooking, cleaning, laundry as well as providing Christian love for the children there. We have space for one more male-college age or adult. If interested, please call Julie. Support Interfaith Hospitality Network On Saturday, June 26 from 8AM-2PM, the McDonald's on DeRenne Avenue will donate 10% of their sales to Interfaith Hospitality Network. Meet your friends and family at McDonald's for breakfast or lunch and support families in need in our community. Spread the word to everyone you know. IOHUMC will host the families enrolled in Interfaith Hospitality Network July 4-11th in the Green House. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, prepare and/or serve meals, play with the children, serve as evening and overnight hosts, and clean-up. This is a great way for families to volunteer together! Call Felicia McManamy at 691-1744 to volunteer. The Christ Child's Nest In early June, Tropical Storm Agatha hit Guatemala causing tremendous damage in Guatemala City and surrounding areas. The Christ Child's Nest was also hit very hard. Praise God the Sisters and children are all safe, however the damage done to the home was extensive and supplies and food are hard to get. If you would like to help assist with purchasing supplies to replace what was damaged, please make a check payable to IOHUMC and mark it "TCCN-Agatha Relief". Please keep them, and all of the people of Guatemala in your prayers.
