Dear , Just inside our church door is a beautiful cross-stitched portrait of a circuit riding minister on horseback studying his Bible. It reminds us all of those days when our church was out "in the country" and served by ministers who would visit every few weeks. Today, we are much bigger and far more complex. But "God's call" still today brings ministers to Isle of Hope to share His grace, His love and His gift of salvation. This Sunday we welcome Rev. Michael and Cindy Ricker as our new senior minister family. Mike will be coming to us from Columbus where he has served as the Senior Minister at Wynnton UMC. He and his wife Cindy are originally from Savannah. Cindy grew up in the Garden City United Methodist Church where Mike attended also. Mike is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Mike has been a part of our Conference for over 30 years. He has worked extensively in missions throughout Central America, South America, India and the Caribbean. We also welcome Rev. Jim and Amanda Morrow as our new associate minister family. Jim and Amanda will be coming to us from St. Mary's UMC where Jim has served as Associate Pastor since 2006. Jim grew up in St. Mary's. He graduated from Columbus State University in Columbus with a BS in Education majoring in Theatre Education. He was the Drama Teacher at Camden County High in Kingsland for two years before answering his call to the ministry. Jim is currently finishing his Master of Divinity Degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. Mike and Jim now join a long line of God's servants who have journeyed to Isle of Hope and become an essential part of our church life. And as a new chapter opens in the ministerial history of our wonderful "little" church, there is no more special time for each of us to re-dedicate "our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service" to the ever-expanding, always-amazing Work of our Lord at Isle of Hope! Welcome Mike & Cindy and Jim & Amanda! Bill Daniel, Chair Staff-Parrish Relations Committee |

The June meeting will be Wednesday, June 23rd, at Carey Hilliard's Banquet Room, 11111 Abercorn Street Ext. from 12:00 - 1:30. Special feature will be Debbie Ryystlainen with Go Fish showing the latest fashions. Music will be by Janet Jones. Phyllis Page from Chelsea, AL will share "how to survive hurricane headache"! OUR APPRECIATION Thank you so very much for the parties, receptions, cards, gifts, calls, hugs, and other "well wishes" which you have given us in recent days, but also for the love you have shown us across these seven years. It has been a joy to be your parsonage family. We trust that the Lord will bring us together again across the years to come. We love you, June and Dick Congrats! Jennifer Beall graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic School of Pharmacy. Adult Summer Sunday School Jammin July Presents "Becoming A Good Samaritan" Love your neighbor, change the world... Matthew 25:35-36 All adults are invited to join together in a big & small group experience as we explore John Ortberg's "Becoming a Good Samaritan". John Ortberg is the author of other popular studies such as "If You Want to Walk On Water You've Got To Get Out Of The Boat" and "It All Goes Back In The Box." As is our tradition, each Sunday in July all adults join together in the Social Hall for coffee and refreshments at 10:00AM. We'll study together and have the opportunity to break into small groups facilitated by Rev. Ricker, Rev. Morrow, Julie Vann, Jeremy Akin and others! Session Themes Include: July 4th Becoming a Good Samaritan July 11th Caring For The Sick July 18th Seeking Justice & Reconciliation July 25th Honoring the Poor & Forsaken Does "Our" Gospel have a hole in it? God doesn't require us to be superstars. God simply call us to be faithful to the things God has given us to do - praying, loving, serving, giving, forgiving, healing and caring - doing "small things" as Mother Teresa once said "with great love." This is the whole of the gospel!
