Dear ,
HOMECOMING 2010 Homecoming Sunday at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church is a very special time. It is a time to visit with family and with friends, old and new. This year that Sunday falls on May 2. We will look for you then. We will have three services of worship: 8:45 AM and 11:15 AM in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship Services with Rev. Charles Houston, Jr. as the speaker, and at 11:15AM in the Fellowship Hall for the Non-Traditional Worship Service with Rev. Larry Rollins as our speaker. Both Charles and Larry grew up in the Isle of Hope Church. We want a large crowd at all three worship services to welcome them "home." Lunch will be served "Under the Oaks" on the front lawn of the church. The church will supply fried chicken, barbecue, drinks, paper products, and plastic wear. You are asked to bring several dishes of food (other meats, vegetables, salads and desserts)... enough for your family and a little extra for our guests. You will want to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and other items to make yourselves comfortable for the meal and for a time of fellowship and music after lunch. The HOPE Band will furnish music. Isle of Hope UMC is 159 years old this year. Our membership now totals 2,850, and continues to grow. We welcome many guests and visitors each week in our times of worship, study, and fellowship. We continue to be a "mission-minded " church, nearing our goal of doing as much for others as we do for ourselves. You may remember that a few weeks ago we reported that for 2009 the score was Isle of Hope UMC - 53%; Others - 47%. God has blessed us to be a blessing to others! Our Homecoming Chairpersons this year are Mark and Becky Covington. Be sure to thank them and others who work with them for making Homecoming such a special time. Make your plans to be present. Invite others to come with you. Pray for the activities of the day, giving thanks to God for what He has done across the years here at IOHUMC. May God continue to use our efforts to reach out to our community and across the world. Dick Reese |

Jennifer & Yancey South Georgia Conference Building Fund For many years the South Georgia Conference has rented facilities for their Episcopal Office and Administrative Services Office in Macon, Georgia. The current rent is $53,154 each year, and since 1988 has totaled about $723,499. The Bishop's staff is in overcrowded facilities, as is the Administrative Services Building. A task force has recommended that a Conference Center be built in Macon to alleviate the problem. The total cost is estimated to be $2.9 million, of which about $500,000 is available. The remaining $2.4 million is being sought through private donations. Pledges over the next three years are being solicited throughout the Conference. Pledge cards are available in the Church Office for those who would like to contribute to this worthwhile project. Farewell to Frank & Friends Luncheon honoring Frank Parr Thursday May 13, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall Cost for lunch is $10.00 Make reservation before May 9th by calling the church office at 355-8527 or sign up in Sunday School!
