Dear ,
THE EASTER FAITH Across the years individuals have asked, "Is there anything after death?" The only satisfactory answer to that question is found in the magnificent truth of Easter! Christian churches will be crowded on Easter Sunday. Why is this true? Is it true because of tradition? Is it because those who attend want to show off their new clothes? Is it because everyone expects everyone else to be there? I think the answer to our questions is much deeper than the answers we might give to the questions above. People will be present at Easter because they anticipate a message of hope. They want to be reassured that their loved ones who have already gone through the "valley of the shadow of death" have hope for an eternal relationship with God. They want that for themselves also. We want to hear again the story of how Jesus conquered death and made it possible to have eternal life with him. Many persons seem afraid to die, so afraid that they tremble when death is discussed in their presence. The Bible teaches that we should not be afraid to die. The Bible tells us that there are several reasons we should not be afraid to die: (1) Death is God's plan for His creation. God is our Heavenly Father and we are His children. He loves us and does all things in our best interest. (2) Jesus talked about death as "going to be with the Father." Death is a doorway through which the Christian enters the Father's house. Death is a means by which we move into a greater relationship with God. Jesus said on the cross, "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit." It was if Jesus was saying "Father, I'm coming home!" (3) As Christians, we should know that we belong to God, not only in the years we call life, but for all the years beyond which we call eternity. Trusting God in life, we can also trust Him in death, for the scriptures teach us that beyond death is the resurrection. Jesus said, "Because I live, you shall live also." This is the Easter message, a message of hope! You and I can live in that hope each day. Dick Reese YOU WILL WANT TO BE PRESENT FOR THESE SERVICES OF WORSHIP FOR THE REMAINDER OF HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SUNDAY GOOD FRIDAY WORSHIP - 12:00 Noon in the Sanctuary. We will observe "Seven Stations of the Cross" using the various crosses we have emphasized in worship during Lent. EASTER SUNDAY - Four Worship Services : Sanctuary 8:45 AM, 10:00 AM; and 11:15 AM. Anchor Worship 11:15 AM . Sunday School will meet as usual at 10:00 AM. RIDE THE TROLLEY!

Missions & Outreach
Many Thanks! Many thanks to the 10:02 Sunday School class for serving as the hands of Christ on Saturday. After hearing of the need for some work to be done at Union Mission, the class organized a team of workers, raised funds for the supplies, purchased the supplies and completed the job on Saturday. The work team consisted of Tim Roberts, 10:02 Service Coodinator; Henry Rowe and Wright Smith, Project Leaders and Bill Anderson, Mac Newell, Sidney Smith and Doug McManamy. Thanks guys for a job well done! A word of thanks to all of the children and their parents who patiently made pillows for the children at Wesley Community Centers and cookies for the children at Union Mission as part of Pretzel Saturday. Thank you for sharing the love of Christ with others. The next meeting of the Friends 'n Needles Prayer Shawl Group will be on Wednesday (not Thursday), April 7 from 11 am until 2 pm at UNWIND (our fabulous new yarn store) 7710 Waters Avenue. They are closed on Thursdays and this date is the day before our usual time. And we'll have our "power lunch." At Unwind, we can check out yarns and patterns that would be appropriate for our projects. It should be alot of fun!! For further information: Nancy Hartmann nlhnlh@hotmail.com Julie
