Dear ,
May We Never Lose The Wonder of the Cross A Musical by Randy Vader & Jay Rouse Chancel Choir with Orchestra During this Lenten season we have been on a "Journey to the Cross," as each Sunday we have lifted up a different and unique form of the Christian cross, a symbol which has become so familiar to us. This Palm Sunday the Chancel Choir will share in worship a musical whose authors hope will renew our sense of the miraculous. Randy Vader expresses it this way: "I have always felt that the truly blessed are those that can see the miraculous in what others see as mundane. Even more so are those that never lose the wonder of the awesome impact of the sacred. It is part of our nature to allow the most wonderful things in our lives to seem commonplace at times - to take tremendous blessings for granted. "This musical is about the importance of remembering. On the eve of His trial and execution Jesus made it clear that we were to remember Him and His sacrifice. He instituted the sacrament of the Last Supper to be a central part of the Christian faith - a time to gather as His Body and remember. "We cannot stand in the distance and casually observe the sacrifice of the Cross. We cannot pretend it did not happen - that it is less than it is proclaimed to be - that it does not touch us or our lives. The Cross is not something that we get used to - nor something that we can get comfortable with - not something that we can ever take lightly. "Jesus Christ, the Son of God, by His own choice died nailed to a Cross for the sins that you and I committed. May we never forget His sacrifice, may we never fail to fall to our knees in thanksgiving for that kind of love, may we never lose the wonder - The Wonder of the Cross." The musical will be supported by an orchestra of strings, brass, and drums. Rest assured that during these frugal times we are carefully controlling many other expenditures so that our worship may continue to be the highest priority. Please join us in prayer as we ask God to open our eyes to His miraculous sacrifice. See you on Sunday morning! Kevin

SEDER MEAL What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus' Last Supper have in common? Janice Scott, of Light of the Messiah Ministries in Atlanta, will answer that question as she presents "Jesus in the Passover" here at IOHUMC Holy Thursday, April 1st at 6:00PM. Please Call the Office (355-8527) to reserve you spot. Cost $5.00 Per Person. The "Jesus in the Passover" service will bring to life the Jewish roots of faith in Jesus as well as the celebration of Communion. Janice Scott will have a Passover table set up with all of the traditional elements involved in the Passover meal. During the service you will see how Jewish people celebrate Passover today, how the symbolic foods of Passover picture God's redemption, and how Jesus is beautifully foreshadowed in the Passover celebration and story. "Jesus in the Passover" will bring new insights into the Jewishness of Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. This is a service for everyone (nursery provided for Preschool children and younger). Save the Date! WHILE every day, 3 million children in the United States live in homes that experience hunger. And around the world, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes--one child every five seconds-every day! In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia, we hope to soon begin a BackPack Program at IOHUMC.
