Dear , MY COVENANT WITH CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH When we become a member of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church we pledge to follow Jesus Christ through the Church and to uphold it with our Attendance, our Prayers, our Gifts, our Service, and our Witness. How well are we carrying out the promises we make? Below, you will find a Covenant Check-list. Read through it and check the things which are already a part of your life, and pray about those things which need to happen. It is my hope that we will all seek to live out this Covenant relationship with Christ and His Church. Dick Reese MY COVENANT By God's grace and strength, I desire to seek ways to become a more faithful disciple of Jesus Christ through his church. I resolve to engage each of these opportunities as means of growth and ways to fulfill my commitment: 1._____ To attend worship regularly. 2._____ To pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit for myself and this congregation. 3._____ To spend time daily in prayer and Bible Study 4._____ To participate in Sunday School and /or another Study Group. 5._____ To offer a portion of my income for Christ's work, reaching toward the tithe. 6._____ To seek to live a Christ-like lifestyle. 7._____ To seek ways to grow in my discipleship. 8._____ To make time for family and friends. 9._____ To forgive someone or seek someone's forgiveness. 10._____ To participate fully in the life of the IOHUMC congregation. 11._____ To discuss with the pastor any occasion when my interest may wane. 12._____ To be willing to share with others the satisfaction and inspiration I receive Through my faith and fellowship in Isle of Hope United Methodist Church. WE ARE BEING "SHAPED TO SERVE" THROUGH THE ISLE OF HOPE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH! NEW WEDNESDAY NIGHT STUDY You are invited to join Dick Reese for a five week Study called "ENOUGH: Finding Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity." This study, written By Rev. Missions & Outreach
"ABOUT FACE!" Our plans regarding the Christmas stocking for the deployed soldiers have been changed. We have been asked to stuff the stockings prior to shipping them. We will provide the stockings and do this as part of Make a Difference Day on October 24th. You can help in a couple of ways. You may bring items needed (found on the website or on the table in the church hallway) and place them in the box in the hallway. Or you can buy all of the items that you would like to include in the stocking and place them in a closed bag in the box in the hallway and we will stuff them in a stocking on Make a Difference Day. Or, you may come on Make a Difference Day from 9-12 noon and help stuff and pack the stockings. Please include a letter of encouragement along with your address or email address. Please call Julie with questions. Grading Prison Papers Every Wednesday evening beginning Wednesday, September 16th from 5:15-6:00PM, we will grade prison papers in the Conference room. A grading key and personal instruction will be provided. These tests are from inmates enrolled in a Christ-centered ministry through the Coastal Jail and Prison Ministries in the Chatham County Detention Center. If you are free any Wednesday, come help provide encouragement to our new brothers in Christ. Welcome Dina Please join me in welcoming Dina Young as the new Missions-Outreach Assistant. Dina, her husband Matt and children Laken, Laura and Evan are members at Isle of Hope UMC. Dina's mother, Nancy Vogel is also a member. Dina is a long time Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader. She has a heart for missions, proven by her previous experience at Old Savannah City Mission and Hospice Savannah. Youth & College
We had our first MYF this past Sunday and challenged ourselves to rethink how we worship. Join us next Sunday as we see how we can live into a life of service. Small Groups on Wednesday nights also started - we examined the first few verses of Philippians and will be continuing our study in the next few weeks. Come join us and read about Paul's passion for Christ! We will be starting some fundraising later this Fall. This is in efforts to raise money for our summer missions trips - look out for more details to come! Jocelyn & Mackay

Music & Fine Arts
Do you read music? The Handbell Choir needs you! Our church is blessed to own 3 octaves of English handbells, beautiful to hear and to see. We meet on Sundays at 5:30PM, and ring in worship several times yearly. Please see the Vogelsangs if you have an interest in learning to ring. It really is fun! The Men's Chorus will begin another series of rehearsals on Sunday, October 4, at 7PM. We plan to sing in worship on November 8. This is a great way to enjoy the inspiring music and great fellowship of a choir with only a short-term commitment. ALL men are welcome and encouraged to join us! Kevin & Nancy
