Dear ,

PERHAPS WE SHOULD READ THE STORY OF NOAH AGAIN!
With all the rain in our area this spring and summer, and with the general condition of our nation's economy and world situation at this time, I thought it might be helpful to read the story of Noah and the flood again. I know, God made a covenant with Noah to "never again destroy the earth with water", but listen.......
                        THE STORY OF NOAH RETOLD
And the Lord said unto Noah: "Where is the ark which I commanded thee to build?"
And Noah said unto the Lord: "Verily, I have had three carpenters off ill. The gopherwood supplier hath let me down - yea, even though the gopherwood hath been on order for nigh upon twelve months. What can I do, O Lord?"
And the Lord said unto Noah:"I want that ark finished even after seven days and seven nights."
And Noah said: "It will be so."
And it was not so. And the Lord said unto Noah: "What seemeth to be the trouble this time?"
And Noah said unto the Lord: "Mine subcontractor hath gone bankrupt. The pitch which Thou commandest me to put on the outside and on the inside of the ark hath not arrived. The plumber hath gone on strike. Shem, my son who helpeth me on the ark side of the business, hath formed a pop group with his brothers Ham and Japheth. Lord, I am undone."
And the Lord grew angry and said: "And what about the animals, the male and female of every sort that I ordered to come unto thee to keep their seed alive upon the face of the earth?"
And Noah said: "They have been delivered to the wrong address but should arrive on Friday."
And the Lord said: "How about the unicorns, and the fowls of the air by sevens?"
And Noah wrung his hands and wept saying, "Lord, unicorns are a discontinued line; thou canst not get them for love nor money. And the fowls of the air are sold only by half-dozens. Lord, Lord, Thou knowest how it is!"
And the Lord in His wisdom said, "Noah, my son. I knowest. Why else dost thou think I have caused a flood to descend upon the  earth?"

The Old Testament Book of Genesis tells us concerning Noah that, "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God." (Genesis 6:9-10)
May it be so with those of us who walk upon the face of the earth during these days!

OFFERING FOR HAITI
With the visit of Rev. Actionnel  Fleurisma from Bayonnais, Haiti to our church  on August 2, several have asked how we might support the work there. Just a reminder that our Communion Offering on September 6 will go to OFCB ministries in Haiti. If you cannot be present for worship that Sunday, but would like to make a gift, send your check made payable to Isle of Hope UMC, and mark it "OFCB Ministries".

ANCHOR WORSHIP
Thanks for the outstanding support shown for the first Preview Service of THE ANCHOR, our new non-traditional worship service. There were 365 persons in attendance! Please know that we are working on the concerns for sound barriers between the Fellowship Hall and nearby Sunday School classes, and the on-going overcrowding in our parking areas. With continued growth at Isle of Hope UMC, these are GOOD PROBLEMS TO HAVE! Continue to pray for our ministries together and invite others to  join you for worship, study, and fellowship times each week.

Back to School
It is that time again- time to hit Office Depot or Wal-Mart to gather all of those school supplies! There are many children who will enter school this year as a foster child. Times for them are already difficult without showing up for school without the necessary supplies. As you are out picking up school supplies for your children, how about getting a few extra items for foster children in our community? Crayons, pencils, notebook paper, hand sanitizer, clear and mesh book bags-any school supply is needed. The Foster Parent's Clothes Closet hopes to prepare over 130 book bags this August. Place items in the boxes in the hallway. Thank you.

Our Read to Feed Program ends this month. Please hand in funds raised and booklist by Sunday, August 30th. We will have a recognition program for all students who participated on Wednesday, September 9th during Wednesday Night Supper.

Urbana 09
Are you a rising high school senior or a college student with a heart for missions? Would you like an awesome opportunity to learn more about the world God loves and your place in it? Then Urbana 09 is the place for you! At Urbana 09 you'll learn about critical global issues from dynamic teachers, worship with thousands in one of the most diverse gatherings in North America, and be challenged by missional students. It all takes place December 27-31 in St. Louis, MO, and two fortunate people will win a free trip! Winners will be chosen through an essay contest. If you would like to participate, please fill out an application (which includes writing an essay) found on the table in the church hallway or see, Julie, Jocelyn or Mackay. Application deadline has been extended to August 31st. Visit www.Urbana09.org for more details or www.iohumc.com for an application.
