Dear ,
COMING IN AUGUST!
The summer is winding down, but activities at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church continue to occur at a rapid pace. Listed below are some of those activities for the month ahead. Put the dates on your calendar and plan to be present for as many of them as possible. They are all important to our life together in the Christian faith: August 1 - Dinner Theatre show "Something's Afoot". August 2- OFCB Minister from Haiti Actional Fleurisma speaks to adult classes August 2-5 - College Mission Trip August 6-8 - Dinner Theatre show "Something's Afoot" August 9 - Holy Communion 8:45 and 11:15 AM Sara Vogelsang speaks about summer Mission Hope Band plays in Worship August 16- Promotion Sunday in Sunday School First Preview Service for "The Anchor" at 11:15 AM The Speaker is Rev. Meg Procopio August 23 - Request your favorite hymns in 8:45 and 11:15 AM Worship August 28-29 -Sunday School Teachers to "Antiquities Center", LaGrange ,GA August 30 -Preview Worship in "The Anchor" Service , 11:15 AM The Speaker is Rev. Wayne Racz In addition to these events, several committees will hold meetings to plan for future events. Visit our website (www.iohumc.com) or watch your e-mail and regular mail for announcements concerning these meetings.
THERE ARE TWO EVENTS IN AUGUST WHICH I MENTION IN SOME MORE DETAIL FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION:
THE ANCHORIn addition to our Traditional Worship Services at 8:45 AM and 11:15 AM, we are adding a third worship experience which is more non-traditional, called "The Anchor." This Service will take place in the Fellowship Hall at 11:15 AM. We will have two Preview Services on August 16 and 30, with weekly Services scheduled to begin on September 13. A newer member of our staff, Lindsay Bradley, will be the worship leader for these services, with our pastors rotating through to bring the messages. The traditional Worship Services in the Sanctuary will continue much as they have been with occasional changes. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE 50-75 PEOPLE COMMIT FOR A THREE MONTH PERIOD TO ATTEND BOTH TRADITIONAL AND NON-TRADITIONAL WORSHIP. Contact Dick and let him know if you would make that commitment.
SERMON SERIESIn the traditional Worship Services during the five Sundays of August, I will be sharing messages based on John chapter 6. The series is titled "Don't Go Around Hungry!" The individual messages are: August 2 - "What's For Dinner?"; August 9 -"Want To Live Forever?"; August 16 - "Where Do We Find Bread-Not Snacks?"; August 23 - "Are We What We Eat?"; and August 30 - "Do We Ever Get Enough?" I hope to see you in worship during August. We have great opportunities as we work and worship together.
