These courses will be held in computer labs on The College of New Jersey campus, so that you can receive hands-on training with QuickBooks.
ACCOUNTING FUNDAMENTALS (6 HOURS):
The students will begin by learning the fundamentals of Accounting; terminology, GAAP, the four steps of the Accounting Cycle, major financial statements, and a discussion of financial ratios. At each step, the Accounting Fundamentals theory is interspersed with demonstrations of and direct comparison to the Quick books software. It will be complete with discussions of how financial software is effective in communicating quantitative business metrics to management, employees, partners, procurement and corporate contracts, strategic partners, and lenders.
QUICK BOOKS (9 HOURS):
The students will then be trained on all steps of Quick Books setup. This will include development of the Chart of Accounts, Fixed Asset Lists, Price Level Lists, Class Lists, Vendor and Customer Lists. By using the five main accounts of Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income and Expenses, they will learn the entire business processing of financial information from issuing purchase orders to receiving inventory and paying bills. They will learn the importance of maintaining an accounts payables tracking of their business, including a cash flow analysis, by scheduling out their payables in advance.
The students will then learn Accounts Receivables processing-- how to issue estimates, communicating, through an analysis of pricing, with their customers. They will be trained in issuing invoices, receiving payments and deposit processing and bank/credit card reconciliation. They will learn the importance of tracking and controlling an accounts receivable and tracking the incoming flows from customers. In addition, they will learn how to track mileage, how to design budgets and how to design templates with business logos for all business forms available in Quick Books.
There will be a discussion of the latest integration techniques and capabilities to facilitate their business operations that are available by using the Quick Book's files online through their business bank account to bill pay, bank reconciliation, download of merchant services and payroll. Also, how to download and process their Business Credit Card expenses online. In the final stage of the training, the students will learn about the full complement of reports available through the development of databases in Quick Books. In addition, they will learn how to design and memorize their own reports; learn analysis of the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
During the tenure of the course, emphasis will be placed on optimizing small business operations. In addition, the students will also learn how to use liquidity and solvency ratios as an end goal of tracking financial transactions to ensure successful small business operations.
Instructor: Carla Fallone - CEO of Fallone Business Resources, entrepreneur for 23 years, founder of highly successful food services corporation. This course is 15 hours spread over 3 days. For all 3 days, we will meet from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
The 3-day seminar is offered 3 times throughout the summer for your convenience.
There is a half hour lunch included each day.
