The Swiss Movement
January 2010
Greetings!

Greetings! In this installment you'll find details of my appearance next weekend at the Magic Castle, plus recent news and projects.

Magic Castle - 2 nights only!
Jamy LIVEI'll be performing in the W.C. Fields Bar at the
Magic Castle in Hollywood, this Friday and Saturday, January 29 & 30. Contact me to attend, and if you want to have dinner you need to make reservations promptly! Be sure to note the Castle's strictly enforced dress code (details on the website). The bar is a free-form performance space - the magic and mayhem begins at 8:00 pm on Friday and at 9:00 pm on Saturday, and continues more or less continuously until midnight both nights. All things being equal I recommend Saturday night, due to a special event on Friday that may result in a crowded night in the Fields bar -  and there will be no seating in the bar that night, only standing.
The E.G. & Magical Metaphors
Jamy LIVEI've just returned from my third consecutive year presenting or performing at The EG (The Entertainment Gathering) in Monterey, invariably an incredible experience. This year I performed several magical pieces on themes pertinent to the conference, including a delightful collaboration with my longtime pal and creative colleague Eric Mead, and also a mini-presentation and performance on the subject of "Empathy: A Job Skill."

I offer many presentations for audiences of professional designers and user experience folks, and I also do talks about creativity, brainstorming, risk management, and more. Learn more about Magical Metaphors, or contact me now to find out about corporate speaking engagements customized to your organization's unique needs and challenges - presentations that will leave your people with meaningful new solutions and lasting take-aways. Magic makes it memorable!

The Debut of The Honest Liar
photo by Virginia Lee Hunter I am very pleased to announce the debut podcast of For Good Reason, hosted by D.J. Grothe, President of the James Randi Educational Foundation. The podcast features my own weekly commentary about deception, The Honest Liar. Our first guest, appropriate enough, is the Amazing One himself, James Randi, and I discuss Randi's influence on me and what it means to be an "honest liar." Please subscribe via iTunes, and spread the exciting news! You can also read my weekly notes on the podcast on my newly redesigned blog, so if you haven't had a look there recently, please come check it out. You can also find it from my website - just click on "blog" - and while we're at it, you can also always get to my website by using www.honestliar.com.
If you're new to my list and missed Adam Gopnik's 14-page piece about the art of magic and me in The New Yorker, you can find it here.

Finally, if you haven't visited my website or blog lately, use these links to take a look now! The news page includes links to YouTube videos, latest photos, and more - including a great video from the last EG conference in which you can see me "Dancing With Matts" ... well, you just have to look to find out more!

I do hope to see you at your next corporate or private event. Drop me a line and let's talk about how we can make magic together!

Sincerely,
Jamy Ian Swiss
