The Magic Castle - one week only!
 I'll be performing in the Palace of Mystery at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, the week of August 10 through August 16. Contact me to attend, and if you want to have dinner you need to make reservations promptly! Note the Castle's strictly enforced dress code. I am MCing the stage show that week, with up to three shows a night - 8:30, 10:00, & 11:15 some nights - but the later in the week it gets, the more difficult it is to get in without a reservation.

Magical Metaphors
I'll be speaking as part of the University of Michigan Distinguished Speaker series on November 5th in Ann Arbor, presenting a new talk entitled "Sleight of Hand: How Bodies Fool Minds."
My recent talk about "Empathy: A Job Skill" at the GEL conference
(it stands for "Good Experience Live") in New York City was a hit. Conference producer Mark Hurst, who also publishes the Good Experience newsletter & blog, says: "Jamy Ian Swiss was one of the most popular speakers we've ever had at
the GEL conference. His presentation blended themes of marketing,
design, history, psychology, performance, and ended with a custom-built
experience that brought together a central takeaway of the entire
event."  In the past year I've made public speaking appearances for Adobe, Intuit, Electronic Arts, and at conferences including Flash Forward (read this review of my talk; scroll down the page), " Serious Play" at the Art Center College of Design, and The EG (Entertainment Gathering) in Monterey (where I will return for my third consecutive appearance in January of 2010). NECSS, NCAS/CFI, & TAM 7
Science & Skepticism
 What's all that mean? NECSS is the Northeast Conference on Science & Skepticism, which I will be hosting on September 12th in New York City. NCAS is the National Capital Area Skeptics and CFI is the Center for Inquiry, who are jointly presenting me, along with DJ Grothe (of the Point of Inquiry podcast), in a full-day seminar on "Magic, Science, & Skepticism: A Natural Relationship," in Washington DC on October 24th, including an evening performance of "Heavy Mental." And TAM7 is The Amazing Meeting 7, where earlier this month I presented a workshop with DJ Grothe; produced & MC'd a show; hosted an on-stage conversation with James Randi himself; and took part in a panel with Penn & Teller, Randi, Ray Hyman, and DJ Grothe (all seen in this photo above).
