Magical Nights at Feinstein's at the Loews Regency
On Sunday, April 5th, I'll be MC'ing at Feinstein's in the Loews Regency Hotel, Park Avenue's premiere Manhattan cabaret. The room is exquisite, the food is terrific, the service is fabulous - and you also get New York's best close-up magicians performing right at your table starting at 6 pm, and then a two-act magic show at 8 pm. Buy tickets here or contact me for further details. And I'll also be headlining the show on May 3rd. |
The Magic Castle - one week only!
I'll be performing in the Close-up Gallery at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, the week of April 13 through April 19. Contact me to attend, and if you want to have dinner you need to make reservations promptly! Keep in mind the Castle has a strictly enforced dress code. I am in the "late" close-up that week, with up to four shows a night, starting at 10:00 p.m.

The GEL Conference
My next public speaking engagement will be at the GEL conference in New York City on Friday, May 1st. GEL - it stands for "Good Experience Live" - is the brainchild of Mark Hurst, who also publishes the Good Experience newsletter & blog. I'll be debuting a brand-new talk entitled "Empathy: A Job Skill."
In the past year I've made public speaking appearances for Adobe, Intuit, Electronic Arts, and at conferences including Flash Forward (read this review of my talk; scroll down the page), "Serious Play" at the Art Center College of Design, and The EG (Entertainment Gathering) in Monterey. Many of these presentations have been for audiences of designers and user experience folks, but I also do talks about creativity, brainstorming, risk management, and more. Contact me now to find out more about corporate speaking engagements customized to your organization's unique needs and challenges - presentations that will leave your people with meaningful new solutions and lasting take-aways. Magic makes it memorable!

A Party for Angels and Ages What a treat! Recently I was invited to attend a dinner party celebrating the release of Adam Gopnik's new book, Angels and Ages,
a superb read about Lincoln and Darwin. The gathering was held at the Manhattan home of Tina Brown (now of The Daily Beast, and former editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker), and attended by a stellar list of the New York literati, among others (over cocktails I had a nice chat with Mayor Bloomberg). Dinner was followed by toasts and tributes, including one from Malcolm Gladwell (Blink, Tipping Point), and then our co-host, journalist Harry Evans, brought the guest of honor to the front of the room for a thoughtful interview about the book. Earlier that day Adam Gopnik had asked me if I might perform, and so following Adam's book conversation, my own 15-minute performance then brought the evening to a magical conclusion!

And speaking of The New Yorker,
if you enjoyed the lengthy profile piece about magic (and yours truly) and would like to share it with a friend or colleague, just click on Mark Stutzman's original artwork here and it will take you to Adam Gopnik's insightful feature. I had the chance to meet Mark in December, when we were both presenters at The EG conference in Monterey, and it was a pleasure to talk to this remarkable artist, famous for, among many other things, the Elvis stamp. So I'm now one degree away from Elvis - or at least our portraits are! And if you haven't visited my website or news blog lately, use these links to take a look now! The news page includes links to YouTube videos, latest photos, and more - including a great video from the recent EG conference in which you can see me "Dancing With Matts" ... well, you just have to look to find out more! I do hope to see you in the next few weeks at Feinstein's, Monday Night Magic, or the Magic Castle - or at your next corporate or private event. Drop me a line and let's talk about how we can make magic together!
Sincerely,
Jamy Ian Swiss
