How's this for a lab?
NIST house Funded by stimulus money and looking very nice to me. This house should turn up some great statistics as time goes by. I wonder if the results would be different if real people lived in it. I'm ready to move in. You?

See you in Somerville!
dead men steam school logo The Lovely Marianne and I are headed up to Somerville, MA for the Dead Men's Steam Night School on October 22. This seminar will make you familiar with the many types of old steam heating systems and what goes wrong with them. Click here for more details. Hope to see you there!

A completely solar country
vatican Not a very big one, though. It's the Vatican and here's what they're up to. Thanks to my good friend (and subscriber), Heidi Thorne, for the heads-up. Heidi, in case you don't know, is the Goddess of Green Promotional Products.
More on Maine
Governor LePage Oil is on the wane in Maine. Check out what the governor is saying. And thanks to subscriber, Ray Frechette, for sharing this one with us.

What would Kafka say?
Waites This story caught my eye and I'm still scratching my head over how a gas company could go after a woman for 12 years over unpaid bills when she has no gas connection to her house. Hello?
Nothing to do with heating
popinator And these folks, like me, have way too much time on their hands. I nearly wet myself watching this video. I want one!
Tiny homes
tiny homes How about this one? Must be easy to keep clean (and heat). And here's the rest of the story. Ah, the simple life!
What's next for Nest?
nest thermostat Looks like we may be seeing Version 2 of the snazzy Nest thermostat before long, at least according to this story. I wonder if people will start lining up for it in front of Lowes. Think those with Nest 1 will trash those and buy the latest? Nothing like a little Apple sauce to juice up a product.

Hug your kids.

Dan
