W.W.G.D. (What Would Gilligan Do?)

This could be the answer to that famous three-hour tour - a floating passive house that's about to become a mass-produced item. I see this as an answer to rising sea levels. Here on Long Island, we are currently about seven miles from the ocean, but that could change at any moment. The Lovely Marianne and I are very willing to switch to this house.

How's this for a stimulus plan?
You have to hand it to the Chinese government when it comes to manipulating markets. I wonder if the Rebound Effect will kick in and the citizens will just hang on to those old air conditioners and computers. Nah, those in charge have probably thought of that.

This may upset you
It sure upset me when I spotted news of this horrible advertisement out of Estonia. They apologized right away, but another company followed up with this one. I checked with our ex-pat friend, Clif Heeney, in Estonia and he noted that some folks are just filled with hate. And that's sad.

Give 'em the shaft
And they'll turn it into a source of geothermal heat. Check out what the folks in Glasgow have planned. This is going on in more places than Scotland. I know they're doing it in the Netherlands and they even talked about doing it in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Good use of what's there, eh?

Thermal Energy Storage on the rise
Thanks to Robert O'Brien for sharing this article. The future is looking brighter for solar thermal if these numbers prove out. I'm going to buy some new sunglasses!

Nothing to do with heating
I was spellbound by Curiosity's landing on Mars and (as always) humbled by the minds of those who can dream of, and then achieve, a wonder such as this. But this video made it all so much more real, and the reaction of the scientist brought tears to my eyes. Oh, the things we can do when we set our minds to it!

The greenest house in the world?
Could be this one. I really like what they've done with this one? How about you? Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
