Energy Mismanagement
Here's a story I wrote for Supply House Times. It has to do with some questions asked by friends in Europe, and also with my Aunt Lucy. You'd like her very much. She's a real New Yorker.

Game-changer?
pellet system The folks in Maine have been moving away from fuel oil and toward burning more wood. That's understandable, considering what happened to the price of fuel oil last winter. Now Maine Energy Systems LLC has decided to manufacture wood-pellet boilers right in the state. This should be interesting. And thanks, as always, to Robert O'Brien for sharing this one with us.
Hot stuff!
siding damage Check out what these efficient windows are doing to the neighbors' siding and cars. Ah, the yin and yang of saving energy!
What drives green building?
Here's an interesting report from Lux Research on what drives the policy of governments when it comes to green-building technologies. It reminded me of the lousy windows I saw when I visited Iceland. Folks pay less attention to saving energy when it's cheap. No surprise there, right?

villa Subscriber, Moe Hirsch, sent me this video and I found it captivating, not just because of the cool technology, but also because of how this part of the house will blend with the original part of the house. Bring on the storms!
PV is popping up all over
solar bridge Robert O'Brien sent this story about the new, world's largest solar bridge in London. Marianne and I went to watch the Long Island Ducks play baseball recently and had a tough time parking because this project is under construction and many of the parking spaces are currently a job site. I couldn't believe my eyes!
A carbon-neutral city
western harbor This is just flat-out fascinating. You collect the sun's energy during the summer, store it underground and use it in the winter to heat the city. And it goes on from there. I love this stuff.

news If you like keeping up on industry news, this is a good place to go. I update it almost daily as manufacturers send me their press releases. And if you're making something interesting and would like to spread the word, I'm happy to post it for you.

Hug your kids.
