The end of cheap natural gas?
dollarSome interesting speculation going on in this article, especially the part about wood pellets. I'm going to try my best to stick around and see what happens. How about you?

When Passivhaus goes wrong
passivhaus BelgiumIt does so in a sickening way. Another delightful article from Martin Holladay, by way of the ever-resourceful Robert O'Brien. Seems that you really have to keep your eyes on the details with these things.
The new Empire State Building works!
empire state buildingAnd beyond expectations. All that energy-saving retrofit work they did recently is really paying off. Check out the details here
MIT hits the road
car tires on roadwayWell, sort of. This report has nothing to do with heating but I found it fascinating. I wonder if they also calculated the carbon footprint of all that extra road material, and what it takes to get it to where it's going. But my brain is too small to question anyone from MIT, so I'll be quiet now.

And just because the world is gorgeous
earthI share this with you. At first, I thought it had to be computer animation, but it's not. I couldn't help but watch it several times. Such incredible beauty. Oh, and be sure to turn up the sound.
Nest is now also available at Amazon
nest thermostatThis themostat is causing quite a stir. It's nice to see something from the heating industry getting so much attention. And thanks to subscriber, Ross Moore, for sending along this review
Why so serious?
commercialSolar marketing is often so serious, which is why I laughed out loud at these very creative commercials. There's always time for a good laugh, right?
How old is geothermal?
life magazineYikes! It's older than I am. Check out this story from LIFE's October 25, 1948 issue. Everything new is old again.

Hug your kids.
