New Jersey vs. Maine
Interesting article here about where you'll have the biggest carbon footprint. Thanks again to Robert O'Brien for sharing this one. My son-in-law drives (sort of) a large Jeep. He also lives about a half-mile from his office and walks to and from work each day. One of his colleagues, a Prius driver, started in with him about his big car and what he was doing to the planet. She drives 20 miles each way to and from work, though. Every day. So many variables, so little time.

Talk about insulation!
The earth is a terrific insulator, and I think it would be fun to do a heat-loss analysis of these houses. Aren't people fascinating?

Keep the home fires burning
Or not. Check out these statistics from NFPA. Sure pays to get that chimney cleaned, doesn't it? And how 'bout those space heaters?!

Nothing to do with heating
Short on cash? Need help paying your bills? No problem! Just turn your house into a billboard? Hmm, I wonder how my neighbors would feel about a HeatingHelp.com house.

Let's be careful out there
I spotted this story about a huge fire in the world's largest biomass power plant. Looks like they'll be down for a long time. Could be worse, though. Remember Japan?

How dogs do it
This has to do with heating - doggie heat exchangers, actually. Ever wonder how dogs can run around in the snow and still have warm feet. Read all about it. And isn't it grand that there are people in the world who have the time to consider such things?
