Trouble in the U.K.
I spotted a couple of interesting stories out of the U.K. First there's an explanation of what causes the most household fights. Yep, it's the thermostat. You can imagine what the second cause is. The other story is also about heating, but it's grimmer. Those statistics sure got my attention.

But who's working the crane?
Take seven minutes and treat your self to this amazing video. Subscriber, Noel Kelly, shared it with us and he writes, "If nothing else - a testament to the ability of our fellow man - to tie a good knot. I drove by when they were doing this. It is gimormous! $4.7 million for 1.5 MW. This is actually a pretty good ROI." Thanks, Noel, and how 'bout that crane operator!

The world is flat
Tom Friedman said it first, and as the days go by, the more I realize the truth in that declaration. Read this article about M.I.T.'s (who else?) recent contest and you'll see what I mean. When you're done, follow up with this article, also from the brains at that intimidating university. It brings the human side of things even closer to what we need to focus on these days. As always, I welcome your thoughts.

Trending away from oil
Last summer, I wrote an article called As Maine Goes. It was about what's happening with oil heat in that state, where oil has long been the fuel of choice. I just spotted this news article that tells more of the continuing story. As Maine goes, so goes the rest of the Northeast. Or so it seems to me.

Heat transfer
So you have an ice rink and a swimming pool and they're right next to each other. What results from that is a neat idea. Sure beats sending the Btus up in the air, eh?
