What's new in new construction?
Two groups that are very involved with passive house have joined forces to come up with ratings for new homes that you can heat with a hair dryer. Here's the story. I'm going to keep watching this movement. It's significant and has the power to change a lot of what we now consider normal. Stay tuned.

Catching power in the air
I found this to be an amazing breakthrough in technology. Something I'd never considered, but then, my brain is a lot smaller than the brains of those who come up with such things. The connection to heating is in the second bullet point near the bottom.

Meanwhile, in Estonia
I recently got this from our friend and fellow subscriber, Clif Heeney, my favorite expatriate, currently living with his wonderful family in a most-interesting place. Check out what the government is doing with cars.

But on the other hand
Here's a more-critical view on the same topic, this one from our friends in the U.K.. One of the questions is what happens to the range of those all-electric cars during the winter when you turn on the heater to warm your buns? Lots of food for thought in this one.

Speaking of electric cars
And while we're at it, fuel cells and wind turbines. Here's a report from the Department of Energy on three recently reports that are filled with good and interesting numbers. Thanks to subscriber (and good friend), Bob Boltz for the heads-up on this one. I'm so confused.

Denmark garbage
They burn nearly all of it over there and this article has some neat video from one of the plants. Sure beats filling up landfills, and it works well with their district-heating layout. And the whole process burns clean. Gotta love the Danes.

Now if it could only turn a wrench
Thanks to my daughter, Erin, for coming up with this one. It has absolutely nothing to do with heating (no hands), but hey, it's a great example of what you can buy if you just have way too much money.

Lastly
Look at what the folks at our fine universities are coming up with now. First, from the brains at MIT (I'm so intimidated), and from the smart folks at the University of Minnesota. The future looks bright indeed!
