yatesA story for you, and the more I think about this, the more I'm convinced that my thinking is sound. What do you think?

Don't think we're in a global market?
Sara and radiatorCheck out this story. The Mexicans need heavy, cast-iron radiators for their inmates. You know, the sort you rip out of buildings and toss in dumpsters. So they go to a three-person company in England. They have the radiators made by a foundry in Turkey (all 800 of them). The foundry then ships all 24 tons of iron to Mexico. And all of this made financial sense to all parties concerned. It's a brave new world.

Empire State BuildingI mean he loved nature, right? In addition to fixing all their windows (and they did that quickly last summer), and making improvements to the great building's mechanical systems, the Empire State Building has decided to buy all of their electricity from Green Mountain Energy Co. in Texas for the next two years. So all of the power in that iconic building will be coming from wind. Here's the story.

passive house videoI think it's well done. It shows a new passive house in Maine and goes into some good detail about the heating-and-ventilating system. What the did in the laundry room is kind of neat. Scroll down a bit for the video.
Like a warm garage?
pamelaGood for you and your vehicles, right? But you'd better watch out for the cops. This one cracked me up, but then I'm easily amused.
Cedar Rapids revisited
cedar rapids buildingI've used this space several times over the past few years to share with you what's going on in Cedar Rapids, Iowa since the devastating flood of 2008. That flood took out so many buildings, along with the district steam plant, which was key to so many of the local businesses. This article brings good news, and I hope new life to that fine American city. The last paragraph tells about their new system of heating, which is a far cry from steam.

This Austrian business lend new meaning to duel-fuel heating equipment. Waste not, want not!

Hug your kids.
