Why buildings in some cold countries don't have central heat
Mexico CityI think this is an interesting story and wanted to get your take on it. The parts about comparative costs and group-think are especially interesting. Don't miss the comments at the end of the article. They offer good insights into other parts of the world where there's a similar situation, but for other reasons. So much to consider!

Another reason why old people are worth listening to
cartoon with clockI giggled over this story from the U.K., but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense to me. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Up on the roof
man looking at ceilingFlorida Power and Light has its hands full with a big lawsuit that involves paint brushes, ladders and plenty of conflicting opinions. This one had my jaw dropping. Here, read it yourself. Life is never as easy at it should be in God's Waiting Room.
Think your house is impressive?
Marshall PA castleOkay, but compared to what? Check out what Cara McCandless and Barton Branstetter built in Pennsylvania. Ah, to follow a dream, and succeed! They must have some interesting kids.

Solar leaves
solar ivyThanks to subscriber, David Goldman, for the heads-up on this story. I love this sort of creative thinking. I also love David's music. Check it out.
One Tonne Life
climate smart houseSubscriber, Mark Kretz, is an engineer in Sweden and he often sends me links to interesting projects that are going on in his gorgeous country. The Swedes are very conscious of the environment and I always enjoy getting news from Mark. I hope you do too. He recently sent me this link. Bold stuff.
Meanwhile, in Maine
truck and towerThere's an interesting (temporary, some say) shift away from fuel oil to wood and gas. Our government helped with some of that, but much seems to be a reaction of the locals to the price of oil this winter. This is telling because Maine has long been a barometer for the oil-heat industry. Read all about it.

More fuel for the fire
colby biomassThe University of Southern Maine is getting off oil and onto gas. Here's a link. Colby College, also in Maine, is switching from oil to biomass, and here's a link for that.
Another use for wood pellets
Mike GreenlawHey, you can't do this with oil or gas! Well, maybe with propane, but that wouldn't be very bright. Score one for the good guys.

Hug your kids.
