Green racing?
solar panelsI never thought of this sport as something that was even close to efficient, but as The Lovely Marianne often reminds me, I was wrong. What next?

What to do with a North Dakota winter?
vegetablesGrow fresh veggies! That's what they're talking about in this article. It sounds like a smart use of the power plant's waste steam and it looks like it will create jobs. Good stuff. What I love about this story is that James Watt (yes, the famous one) built the first radiator by taking a steam pipe from his greenhouse and diverting it indoors. The Brits used to heat (and humidify) their greenhouse plants with steam, without benefit of radiators. It just flowed from the pipes into the greenhouses. Mr. Watt was the first to bring it indoors. Everything old is new again.
Something I've never considered
campfireThis letter to the editor caught my attention. It never dawned on me that moving firewood from home to your camp (or vice versa) can cause this sort of damage to the trees. Something to remember for sure!
Chinese radiators
Think we'll be seeing more of these radiators here in the U.S.? Check out this report about the growth of the hydronics market in China. I regularly get unsolicited e-mail from Chinese manufacturers who want to sell me radiators - and just about everything else to which you could apply a wrench.
Got my vote!
Tom TroyerThe article says he's running for public office (as he has in the past), but it doesn't say where. I think government would welcome this guy. He really knows how to waste people's time, and he sure does know how to pick his battles. I think he's running on the Knucklehead Party line.

pigeonOne possible solution to this Nevada problem. Squab anyone?
And then there are the Danes
These folks excel at district heating. They were recently in D.C., visiting with the Department of Energy, and you can read more about that here. Note the representation of Danfoss and Grundfos. That's only natural, considering what those two fine companies do with district heating in other parts of the world. Stay tuned.

membraneBut it sure has me thinking, and I guess that's a good thing. I guess. Here, take a look. You thinking? Write to me.

Hug your kids!
