Smart roof saves energy
smart roof
Fries on the roof? Looks like some of us will be having some used cooking oil up on the roof within the next few years. According to this report, it can do wonders when it comes to saving energy. But you won't get that nice smell. Too bad.

This article absolutely delighted me because it's what every one of my neighbors would do. Hey, who doesn't need more room for the beers? Fuggedaboudit!
Mel and me
Mel
Slant/Fin's Mel Dubin is one of my favorite people in the whole heating industry. Last summer, I did a series of interviews with Mel. His son, Adam, who now sits at the Slant/Fin helm, produced these and he did a fine job. You can watch the first part here. This gentleman has such a great story to tell, and he tells it well. Enjoy.
Wilkes-Barre, PA to try something different
A while ago, I told you about the folks who own the old steam plant in Wilkes-Barre and how they wanted to use the steam-distribution system as a way of turning the city into a district-hot-water town. The plan was to use the water in the town's abandoned and flooded coal mine as a geothermal source. Looks like that went nowhere, so now the folks at the steam plant have a new idea. I've got to give them credit for creative thinking, and persistence.

Leave it to the Brits to come up with this new hotel service. All the comforts of home! Well, most of them.
Well, maybe not everything
Everyone who owns property in the U.K. must, by law, have a Home Information Pack, which tells all about the property. Folks have to pay to get this and they have no choice. Now those in charge have added this new twist, which makes me shake my head in wonder. Going a bit too far, lads? Sure seems that way to me.

Here's a scary story, but one with a happy ending. Kids are naturally curious. Watch 'em.
Duh!
This knucklehead thought he had it covered when he ripped off this heating contractor, but he left a trail that was easy to follow. Check out this story.

Hug your kids.
