This one certainly goes against the trend of building smaller, but I thought the heating system and construction methods were interesting and hope you will too. Here's the link.

Something new from M.I.T.
heat-powered electronics
This is fascinating stuff. Just think of the possibilities. I was walking around the M.I.T. campus a few weeks ago and could feel the brainpower. It was oozing out of the buildings, which, by the way, look like Legoland, but without the pretty colors. They could use a tree.
Problem solving with potatoes
potato
How about this Brit who thought that a potato was the perfect took for fixing a leaky pipe? Brilliant!
One very expensive chicken (and duck)
burned house
File this one in the Unsafe Ways to Heat Your Pets file. But at least they all made it.

Nothing to do with heating
Thanks to my favorite engineer, Bill Allen, who gave me a heads up about Stanley's new hammer. Bill points out that, with Stanley, your chances of turning your thumb into blood pudding just got 70% easier. Which is why he's my favorite engineer.
I hate when that happens
leaning building
Also from Bill Allen (the man is relentless). The best-laid plans of demolitionists oftentimes go astray. Nothing to do with heating, but it will make you glad that you weren't the one in charge of this project.
From the land Down Under
I've seen this done before (in Colorado) but it's nice to see the concept spread to the other side of the globe. What to do with excess solar heat? Stick it under the house!
Rhode Island and Da Bronx
classic hydronics
Ya snooze, ya lose on these two Night Schools: Rhode Island and Da Bronx. Hope to see you!

Hug your kids.
