How to use your old computer to avoid frozen pipes
Here you go. American ingenuity at it's best!

Make sure you pay your insurance bill
Especially if you're turning to alternative means of heating during this frigid winter. Check out this survey recently published by Nationwide Insurance. Scary stuff.
Bedtime!
chilibed
Here's the ultimate in nighttime setback control. Combine this with a Sleep Number bed and you can work your way up and down the thermostat, probably in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
Save water; shower with a friend
water recycling
Thaks to Eric Aune for sharing this story he spotted on the news (don't miss the video). This couple proves, once again, that in this world, there is definitely as ass for every seat.
The trouble with being popular
boiler scrappage
When our British friends decided that it would be a great idea to have a Cash for Clunkers program for old boilers so many people responded so quickly that the paperwork is now just getting deeper and deeper. Good lesson here for us in the U.S., should such a program start on our side of the pond. Winter is probably not the best time to launch something this grand.
New York state of mind
NYC generator
That's what this is all about. Not every building in NYC has steam heat and open windows. Just most of them. Interesting stuff, and in a very interesting place.
Falling for you
freefall
But it has nothing to do with heating. Thanks to my buddy, Clint Andrews of Grundfos fame for sharing this story about how to fall 35,000 feet and survive. Geronimo!
See you in beautiful Warwick, RI?
classic hydronics
I hope so. Marianne and I will be there on March 11.  Just a few tickets left. Ya snooze, ya lose.

Hug your kids.

Dan
