Quite a mess
oil spill
And it looks like one failed bad oil filter caused the whole thing. Never easy cleaning up after an oil spill. Here's to preventative maintenance.

Who knew?
palm beach condos
I guess when you're living in Florida you figure it's never going to get cold enough to need a heating system. At least that's what the board of this Palm Beach County condo thought. This wacky winter proved them wrong.
One man's ceiling is another man's floor
While the chill in the South is killing some businesses it's doing wonders for others. I'm reminded of what my father used to say, "Kid, this is the best business in the world because it gets cold every winter. It's like money in the bank. People are always going to need heat - especially in the winter."
And while we're in God's Waiting Room
(A.K.A. The Sunshine State) let's consider what those folks are doing to themselves when they do try to stay warm. Read all about it. I'm feeling less and less miserable here on the Isle of Long. At least I have a boiler.
One more
fire
If you don't need your house heater for years and then work it day and night because of the cold snap, here's what might happen. Wacky year for the Jet Stream.
But it could be worse
When the cost of heating goes up, people resort to short-term solutions and don't think much about their long-term health, or the health of those around them. Got crazy neighbors? I'll bet they're not as nutty as these folks are.

old ads
Here's a site that specializes in them. They have a terrific section on old heating ads. Notice how the manufacturers sold benefits rather than features in those days. That's what people buy - benefits.

Hug your kids.
