United Way of Monroe County enthusiastically launched the 2012-2013 "Make an Impact. Every Day. United Way." fundraising campaign with a successful kick-off event Friday, September 7th.
Keynote speaker IU Head Baseball Coach Tracy Smith spoke passionately about the impact made every day with donations to United Way. "United Way and their member agencies are a valuable component of our society... We all can give. We all can give at our own level. And you might wonder how do we reach that goal? We need to step outside our comfort zone. Ask people to give and speak about why you give. Be persistent, be passionate... we are all part of something bigger than ourselves."

New! Priority Funds
New this year, United Way of Monroe County has introduced Priority Funds, a new way for donors to make an impact. We and our member agencies improve the community by focusing our work on three areas: Education, Earnings, and Essentials. Through Priority Funds, donors can now focus their support on any or all of these areas.
Donations to each Priority Fund are granted by the volunteer Vision Council to member agencies that are creating measurable impacts toward those goals. The Priority Funds complement the Community Action Fund, which is allocated to ensure our community is meeting its most critical needs. Read More >>

You help ensure our children have the best start - ready to succeed in school and in life. Grabbing a red block, Josiah stretches to place it at the top of his tower. He proudly looks at his creation. His teacher, Ms. Susan, gives him a high-five and wonders aloud if he's made a tower this tall before.
Although it seems like simple play, while Josiah is building a block tower, his brain is learning and growing. In this bright and cheery classroom, he is building more than a tower -- he is building skills that will help him enter kindergarten ready for success, and later, graduate ready for life.
