POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
Fundraiser Update
There were only 4 brave bears, Doe Kaczmarek, Kim, Matt, and Logan Roddy, who took the Polar Bear Dare this year at February's Polar Bear Plunge. Thank you swimmers! And the crowd was sparse but warm in this coldest of Texas Winters. We raised about $300 for the Texas Pool.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Texas Pool with Polar Bear donations and attendance. This money was used to purchase our new (used) commercial grade refrigerator required by the City of Plano prior to opening this season. Thank you to the Roddy Facilities Team for securing this asset for the Texas Pool. Look for cool Polar Bear refreshments in the Snack Shack this summer and enjoy these photos from the Plunge.

Springtime at the Texas Pool
It's in the air, a scent on the south wind, a tangible feeling manifested by the flowers in bloom, in the green tipped trees, in the desire to get outside and soak up the sunshine. Spring at last has come to Texas. It is time to clear away the old, refresh the present, and anticipate a peaceful new summertime. The Texas Pool is gearing up for a 2010 staycation/vacation of fitness, friends, and fun. Join us in April for some volunteer clean-up days to put the shine back on the Texas Pool Star. We've got some exciting new features to offer with the return of the Diving Board and the addition of a new Corporate Employee Discount Plan. It's time to reserve those special party dates, and send in that membership check. Let's celebrate together a summer season of splashing good times with memories enough to last a lifetime.
And I'll see y'all at the Texas Pool.

Neighbors You Should Know: Logan Roddy

If y'all don't know Logan Roddy, I'd like to invite you down to the Texas Pool a little more often. Logan, a Texas Pool Lifeguard, is the son of Texas Pool President Kim Roddy and her husband Matt who is our Facilities Manager. Logan likely is at the pool more than any other person serving in his lifeguard capacity in addition to putting in countless volunteer hours (thank you, Logan!), with a little personal recreation thrown in. Y'all probably are familiar with Logan's presence at the pool but did you know he taught himself to play 16 different instruments including the bass guitar and the piano? He is a Junior at Plano Senior High playing soccer and studying Auto Tech. Logan is rather technologically savvy in general. He has hazel eyes and is left handed. He'd like someday to visit Germany, Italy, Australia, Hawaii, and Antarctica, in that order. For Spring Break Logan, who is Red Cross Certified as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor, began to study for certification in training new Lifeguards. I don't have to tell you how fabulous this will be for Logan and for all the Texas Pool Team. Look for Logan to head up our swim lesson staff this summer; he's for sure a Texas Pool neighbor you should know. |
