| It's the time of year when love is in the air, the hyacinths and daffodils begin poking up through the native soil and rosy sunshine glosses over the frosty Texas wintertime in anticipation of spring. There is nothing like a Texas Pool Daydream to brighten up a winter afternoon. Last year the Texas Pool overcame enormous financial challenges to save the summer season and the pool itself from closing forever. Yet the key to truly preserving the Texas Pool for future generations is in increasing community awareness and memberships. Today I ask your help in sharing information about the Texas Pool with others; help us get the word out. Please forward the Texas Pool Newsletter to people you know, friends and family. Paint the Texas Pool website information on the back window of your vehicle. Volunteer to help pass out fliers and contact businesses and media representatives. Include a Texas Pool web link on your blog or website. Make a sign for your yard. Wear your Texas Pool t-shirt. Renew your membership early. Like a Valentine to those we love, the Texas Pool is a gift of safe, family fun, fitness, and friendship. So wear your heart on your Texas Pool shirt sleeve...

| Dee Miller |
|
Dee Miller, born Dallas, Texas 1961...yep same year as the pool! Dee and his folks lived in Dallas until he was four years old, then off to Allen. He began Kindergarten and attended Allen Schools through to his graduation in 1979. Yes, he was extremely pleased with Allen's win at the 5A State Football Championship this past November.
He began playing bass clarinet in fifth grade and marched with the band seventh through graduation. He was a member of FFA his junior and senior years and raised a calf in the backyard of his home. When he became a legalized Texas driver he jumped at the opportunity to be part of the small volunteer fire department Allen had at the time. Upon graduation he joined the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Allen, and two years later he became a paid member of his beloved fire department, that was 27 years ago this April.

|
With an air temperature of 30, wind chill 29, 9 polar bear swimmers took the plunge into the 54 degree crystal blue, waters of the Texas Pool on January 10th. Team Texas Pool raised over $1300 including plunge pledges, cash gifts, raffle tickets, and concession donations. About 100 Polar Bear Partiers enjoyed hot cocoa, yummy chilies/foods, new friends and old, and down home

A big Texas Pool thank you to everyone who sponsored swimmers, donated cash/raffle items, brought yummy foods, volunteered, took the plunge, and came out to support the Texas Pool!
