Great Falls College - New Name & New Look
As you all know we have a new name and with our new name comes a new logo. Jason Beam has been creatively working on a proposed design. In the month of September, input from faculty, staff, and students will be sought. Once we have made a final decision on all aspects of the logo we anticipate an unveiling mid-October. Go to www.msugf.edu/rebrandingsurvey.htm
for a look at the proposed logo and an opportunity to provide feedback.
Donate to the Food Pantry
The pantry stocks non-perishable and perishable items; canned vegetables and fruit, boxed pasta meals, baked goods, fresh produce and frozen meat. We also stock toiletry items such as diapers, toilet paper, baby wipes, ect. Starting September 1st through the 11th, we are holding a toiletry drive. We are continuously encouraging donations of perishable and non-perishable items and monetary donations. This last week alone we gave out over 400lbs of food to students in need!

Fort Belknap Healthcare Training
Administrators from the AAniiih Nakoda College in Fort Belknap came to Great Falls College MSU this summer to express the need for healthcare education in their community. Through GFC's non-credit Outreach options, we have partnered with them to provide Phlebotomy and EMT Basic courses.
Phlebotomy is taught by Pamela Christenson who said, "I had 17 students in the phlebotomy class up in Fort Belknap College. The campus is beautiful and everyone on campus was very welcoming and helpful. This was an excellent experience and a start of a good relationship with both colleges. The students were great and eager to learn a new skill".
Joel Henderson and Steven Luwe are the instructors for the EMT Basic course; they travel to Fort Belknap every month to help the students that are enrolled in the class. During orientation, students were asked why they wanted toenroll and the answer Joel received most frequently was they wanted to make a difference in the community; they wanted to serve their community to make it better.
Great Folks Award
Welcome back...here are the Great Folks recipients we would like to recognize for the summer: The May recipients are Lee Anne Gills and Mandy Wright who are being recognized for going the extra mile to work with a graduating student to participate in commencement. Deby Gunter is being recognized for June for taking ownership in configuring the inventory software so that assets are getting charged to the correct departments by index number. This software will save a lot of extra hours going forward.
The July recipient is Steve Halsted who went above and beyond to help a student who had their textbook stolen with just 3 weeks remaining in the summer session. Congratulations to all of our recipients!
Do you know someone you would like to recognize for their outstanding service? Show your appreciation by giving them a Great Folks award! Forms can be found in HR or on the intranet. From these returned awards, monthly recipients will be chosen and all recipients will be recognized and entered into a gift drawing that will occur at the Employee Recognition Luncheon in the Spring.
MedStart
In July, Great Falls College MSU was honored to host MedStart, a one-week summer camp for juniors and Seniors. Great Falls College MedStart was the most successful of the five offered across Montana, according to AHEC, the Area Health Education Center which funds MedStart. Students were thrilled that they attended the event in Great Falls, the only site to be able to do two job shadows during the week. The teens were excited about dissecting cow lungs and hearts with Respiratory Care Program Director, Leonard Bates. Some of the students chose to come to the Great Falls College Med Start camp because of the opportunity to experience the new Simulated Hospital at the college.
