April is Volunteer Month
Submitted by Kim Woloczyn, Program Director, Dental Hygiene
April is Volunteer Month and the MSUGF dental students are actively contributing to the community. Check out the display cases in South Court designed by the second year dental hygiene students for a project in DH 230 Community Dental Health course. Students researched the mission and vision of each agency along with the need for volunteers to sustain its operations. Four agencies were highlighted; Rescue Mission, Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
For MSUGF students who are signed up with AmeriCorps, these agencies offer a way for students to give back to their community along with fulfilling AmeriCorps hours required to receive the monetary benefit.
Electronic Health Records Training on the Horizon
Submitted by Lynn Ward, Program Director, Health Information Technology
Kate Peterson, Adjunct Faculty, Health Information Technology, will represent MSU - Great Falls at the Montana Health Information Management Association meeting in Helena. In addition to promoting our programs, she will introduce the attendees to the Electronic Health Records grant that has been awarded to Montana. MSU - Great Falls is cited as a subcontractor with the grant. The purpose of the grant is to develop programs to train clinicians, HIM personnel, IT personnel, and other end-users to understand the best ways to tailor an EHR system that suits the needs of their particular health agency. More information will be available shortly.

The output of the turbine is now being monitored. It will be connected to the Skilled Trades building to provide power and will also be used to provide electricity for some of the cooling systems for the main campus building. It is generating interest in education in Sustainable Energy Technology and will be used as a training tool for upcoming classes.
