Designer's Challenge: Interior Design Students and the MSU - Great Falls House Submitted by Julie Myers
On Thursday, February 25, MSU-Great Falls Interior Design students met at the MSU - Great Falls CoT house to present their design ideas to the future owner of the home. It was a real "Designer's Challenge" as each student presented concept boards including paint, flooring, lighting and kitchen finishes to owner Heather LaMere, instructor Julie Myers, and Liz Neudecker, the Vista volunteer designer for Neighborworks Great Falls. The students had met previously at Neighborworks to learn about the project from Al Henry and interview Heather. After that, they went to local sources to find products that met the project criteria and budget.
According to Liz Neudecker, "the boards looked great and the students were all very professionally dressed." In the end, Heather could not pick just one! She was so impressed with the students and how hard they had worked for her project. She met with Julie later Thursday afternoon and ended up selecting choices from each board to come up with a beautiful design that met her needs.

Student Health Insurance Forums Submitted by Judy Hay
I must apologize to you for a technical glitch we had when we tried to broadcast the last forum with Jim Mitchell from MSU Bozeman Health Service. We didn't get a good recording, so have not posted that webcast online for you. I will hold two more forums that I hope you will come to. I will explain what we are doing and field your questions. If I can't answer them I will find the answers for you. Please come to one of the following forums: 4:00 p.m. March 24 Room G45/46 10:00 a.m. March 25 Room G45/46 You may also view the plan online as it is this year at https://www.bcbsmt.com/pages/memstudent.aspx the full plan is linked on the right side of the page. Beginning next fall (2010), MSU-Great Falls and UM-Helena will join the MT University System Student Insurance Program. We are the last two schools to join the consortium and require our students to have health insurance of some type. If you do not have insurance already, this plan will be available to you. By joining the consortium, you will have access to a good, reasonably low cost plan and will be able to have coverage year-round as long as you are a student with us. If you take four credits or more with us and attend fall and spring semesters, you will have coverage from September 1-August 31 each year continuously. Please come find out more and ask your questions. I hope to see you there! |
New Security Measures Submitted by Scott Karaffa
Effective March 22, 2010, selected entrance/exit doors will be locked at 6:00 pm daily. Access to the building after 6:00 pm will be allowed only through the Atrium and East doors. You can 'exit' the building through any of the doors. Please contact building security (HelpDesk) if you have questions - 771-4433. We are working to make the building safer for our students, faculty and staff during the evening hours.
